The First #BlackOutDay Happened, But Let's Keep Celebrating

By Genevieve Burgess | Case Study In Hotness | March 7, 2015 |

Yesterday was the first #BlackOutDay on social media, a day dedicated to celebrating the beauty of Blackness. I saw the hashtag trending all day yesterday and some really wonderful posts from people of all walks of life celebrating their own beauty and worth. If you want to know more about the project, Buzzfeed has a pretty good run down that does not involve any lists at all.

So, being as its Saturday morning and already looks like a slow day for entertainment news, I’m making a move to continue the trend right here on Pajiba. We’ll start with a couple old favorites, but feel free to add your contributions in the comments.

Idris Elba

Lupita Nyong’o

Shemar Moore

FKA Twigs (Who I feel is best appreciated in motion, so here’s a video)

Lenny Kravitz

Viola Davis

Billy Brown (As long as we’re on a How to Get Away With Murder theme.)

Nathalie Emmanuel

Jesse Williams (Also noteworthy for smart and interesting discussions of social issues on his Twitter account.)

Now, I’ve missed bunches, I know. So it’s on you to make sure they’re properly appreciated.
