Harley Quinn Is Getting Her Own Animated Series And Leaving The Joker Behind...ish
Harley Quinn is wonderful and I love her. It made me happy to see her in Suicide Squad, though frustrated with people that #relationshipgoal her and the Joker, and knowing that Margot Robbie will portray her in the sequel and possibly other movies makes me happy.
Hell, I hate the New 52 over at DC but I still read the Harley Quinn comics. Harley has left her Puddin’ behind and is finding her way with brand new people and places. Her crazy is on full display with new situations and people to confound. Tts pretty great to see, especially considering her origins as a sidekick and abusive relationship with The Joker. It seems that the planned animated series will continue in this same direction.
The animated series will also feature Poison Ivy and a cast of heroes and villains — old and new — from the DC universe. The animated series follows Harley as she breaks things off with the Joker and attempts to make it on her own as the criminal “queenpin” of Gotham City. The series is described as an adult animated action-comedy. - Via GeekTyrant
If done correctly, this is wonderful news. Some of my favorite episodes of B:TAM involved the shenanigans of Harley and Poison Ivy, so hearing that the two pals will be reunited in the new series is very promising. The Joker will always be involved in a Harley story, whether physically or in the emotional residue of his abuse, so the only real surprise in the series is the inclusion of lesser-known characters like Sy Borgman, Dr. Psycho, and King Shark.
It hasn’t been announced who will voice Harley in the series, but Robbie is likely to get first dibs. If Robbie can’t or won’t do it, I hope Tara Strong is the only other voice actor they consider. Lord knows they’ve screwed up her voice in other animated DC endeavors. coughBatmanandHarleycough.
There is no known release date at this time, but the series is likely to be on a digital DC exclusive platform. Warner Bros. is planning on 26 30-minute episodes for the first season of the series.
