WhiskeyBabyNinjaStar!
A Shameless Solicitation
We’ve never had that much success in our meager attempts to sell T-shirts here on Pajiba. We’ve neither pushed them hard, nor featured particularly winning designs. However, it’s come to my attention that we have a few brilliant illustrators out there in Pajiba-land, as both Replica and Jeremy have demonstrated with these splendid designs for WhiskeyBabyNinjaStar:
To that end, we’d like to put the collective talents of our readership to good use. By request, I’d very much like to take the images from Jeremy and Replica and create a WhiskeyBabyNinjaStar T-shirt. In addition, I’d also like to put together a cool Pajiba T. I have absolutely no intention of trying to profit on the Ts; I figure that the advertising that comes along with wearing the T-shirt is profit enough. Likewise, I cannot offer any potential designers anything but a free T-shirt or two for your services and, of course, the opportunity to have your designs scrutinized by our illustrious, considerate readers, who have never had an unkind word for anyone.
That said, if you’d like to make the world more Pajiba friendly, please email your design ideas to me. There are no guidelines or rules, other than to avoid copyrighted material. After I collect a few (assuming that anyone participates), I’ll put them up for a vote, and allow our readership to pick their favorite(s). Afterwards, I’ll see what I can do about getting the designs on T-shirts and having them ready for sale in time for short-sleeve weather.
My appreciation in advance for any and all who participate, purchase, or critique.

Sell outs!! Capitalist pigs! Let the Pajiba backlash begin!

BarbadoSlim, I cannot help but picture you crouched before your screen 24/7, clutching a Mountain Dew in one hand and No-Doz in the other, waiting...forever waiting...for a new entry on Pajiba to appear...so you can POUNCE.
Maybe you should change your handle to "Frist."
Dude: damn.

Hey!
[jumps off bar]
You can't hide in another thread, you little weasel!!
[strides across bar, draws blade]
AND REALLY, BECKY #2?? THAT WAS THE BEST YOU COULD COME UP WITH????
Posted by: boo at March 5, 2008 11:09 AM
oh yeah, sorry, ahem..
I'm down with shirts. And am willing to do a photo shoot with a hot pajiban modeling said shirt. i will not, however, pretend to have design skills. photos, yes. you know where to reach me.
Posted by: boo at March 5, 2008 11:11 AM
I'm still waiting for my Pajiba Bus(ted) Tour shirt, dammit! Soon, my wardrobe will be filled with Pajiba shirts - maybe then people will stop asking me what the hell it is (because I am here so often, I long ago began quoting you guys as though we were actual real-life friends. I swear I'm not as pathetic as I seem).
Posted by: Kolby at March 5, 2008 11:18 AM
I will totally buy a Pajiba t-shirt! I don't have any design skills so I can't really contribute to it, but sometimes I do have money.
Posted by: Erin at March 5, 2008 11:19 AM
I would also totally model with a hot Pajiban (preferably of the male persuasion, but I'm equal opportunity) in said shirt. Now, I'm not quite as equal opportunity as Girls Gone Wild: Electra Complex, but as VM said, our generation has the faux lesbian dance.

Help me out here...what the hell is a whiskeybabyninjastar???
Posted by: confused at March 5, 2008 11:20 AM
Tshirts. yes.
BumperSticker. please.
Posted by: wsapnin at March 5, 2008 11:22 AM
Forgive this noob for asking - but what the hell is WhiskeyBabyNinjaStar all about?
Posted by: me at March 5, 2008 11:26 AM
I will not buy a T-shirt until I see it appropriately modeled on a hot Pajiban.
I will, however, buy a bumper sticker either way....but preferably also modeled on a hot Pajiban.
Posted by: Shadows of Dakaron at March 5, 2008 11:27 AM
I WANT MY T-SHIRTS AND I WANT THEM NOW!!! DADDY, GET ME A T-SHIRT, NOW!!!!!!
VERUCA PAJIBA
maybe then people will understand what the hell I am talking about when I say, "well, I read on Pajiba...."
"on ...... wha??????"
Posted by: dammitjanet at March 5, 2008 11:32 AM
Can't offer designs (putting PowerPoints together for clients drains all of my creativity) but can offer purchasing power once the t-shirts are available.
Posted by: PaddyDog at March 5, 2008 11:32 AM
All I need are 3 bumperstickers and the modeling gig is filled!
Oh...HOT Pajiban. damn.
Back to the gym.
Posted by: wsapnin at March 5, 2008 11:32 AM
What size, format (currently vector), color(s), etc. do you want it in? If you're gonna screenprint, I'm not sure the screen tints are suitable and it might look like poo. If you're gonna go with one-color, I'll see if I can do a couple versions that you can print out/burn to disc and see what the screenprinter suggests.
I don't want a shirt - I've already got this tattooed on the back of my skull...
Posted by: Skittimus Maximus (aka Jeremy) at March 5, 2008 11:39 AM
3 bumper stickers? psht...two's more than enough.
Whiskeybabyninjastar! (the exclamation is important) is the unofficial mascot of Pajiba. Can't remember in what thread it got started, though...
Posted by: Shadows of Dakaron at March 5, 2008 11:41 AM
Yay! We'll finally get the shirts! I don't even know how to go about buying existing Pajiba t-shirts, so neither pushing nor featuring indeed.
Posted by: katy at March 5, 2008 11:44 AM
I think we should get Rainbow Killer and Dane Cook to model these suckers.
I like both of the shirts. A lot. I would buy them and wear them shamelessly.
I will put the 'motion' in 'promotion'!
Heh heh, that sounds kind of dirty.
Posted by: tt_marie at March 5, 2008 11:45 AM
I also have no design skills (despite the fact that I'm in a graphic design job...don't ask), but I do have much buying power.
And I hope it'd be machine washable, because I'll probably be wearing this a lot.
Posted by: Shadows of Dakaron at March 5, 2008 11:47 AM
Whiskeybabyninjastar! started in the trade round-up thread "I. Am. Shitty!"
I only know this because someone else asked a few weeks ago and I looked it up, I'm not as big a loser as I may appear.
...right? :sobs:
Posted by: Julie at March 5, 2008 11:53 AM
i'm all about a t-shirt. and i totally missed the thread where whiskeybabyninjastar! became the mascot. i clearly don't spend ENOUGH time here.
however, i'm pretty broke. anyone willing to barter? i'm a soon to be certified massage therapist....

Shadows--sorry 2 won't do.
I gots to cover my lady bits.
However the removal of the lower one might be right out of "40 Year Old Virgin". Hmmm....I may need re-think the adhesive. Maybe I could fashion something with some string.
But first the gym!
Posted by: wsapnin at March 5, 2008 11:59 AM
Julie- Of course you are not a big loser! I know, because you so sweetly directed me to the correct round up and comment thread when I asked about it a couple of weeks ago.
I, however, am geeky enough to have bookmarked what I consider to be the three key WBNS! Pajiba pages: the original: http://www.pajiba.com/i-am-shitty.htm, the one with the first graphic: http://www.pajiba.com/shirt-off-mcconaughey.htm, and the one with the second graphic: http://www.pajiba.com/pagina.htm
And I am so freakin' excited that a WBNS! t-shirt is actually in the works! My b'day is soon, so guess what i'm getting?
Posted by: tamatha at March 5, 2008 12:00 PM
Wow...I take a few weeks to get a shirt together and this happens. Damn.
Dude -- your my first option to put the Ts together and offer them up for sale, of course. I just thought we'd get some designs for you to work with. -- DR

Posted by: cockroach at March 5, 2008 12:18 PM
Word. I just got worried cuz I've got time coming in the next few days (finally!) Skittimus does make a good point though...color schemes. My Bus(ted) design was just gonna be white on Black, Blue, or Brown or Black on White, Yellow, or Red. I do everything via silkscreen, so knowing what colors will be used is essential in how the design is rendered. (layers and such)
Posted by: PissBoy at March 5, 2008 12:29 PM
I always thought Pajiba sounded like a kick-ass Japan-imation. It is super cute, with big tear drop eyes, and then it opens its mouth and eats your face.
I want t-shirts. I'm a size XXL due to the expansive size of both my guns. I like my shirts tight so that when I hulk out at the gym, the boys and girls swoon.
Posted by: David at March 5, 2008 12:32 PM
Pissboy - you do your own screenprinting, or do you have access to a studio where they let you do your thing? If you're gonna take the reins on this bitch, let me know whatchoo need. I was originally thinking the design on a white shirt, but in retrospect, I think another color(s) might be a better option using a double-hit of white/light gray for the icon graphic... How about Replica's artwork? How d'you get that in shirt format? Is it an inkjet based somethingorother using fabric-safe inks? I'm rambling...
Posted by: Skittimus Maximus at March 5, 2008 12:38 PM
The first design would make a kickass bumper sticker. Both would make awesome shirts.
Put me down for one of everything.

...can't figure out why.
On topic, the tooth on the wbns! tee that Jeremy made never fails to crack my shit up.
Posted by: Julie at March 5, 2008 12:59 PM
Thanks Shadows, Julie and tamatha (and anyone else I may have missed) for the info on WhiskeyBabyNinjaStar! I'll definitely keep an eye out for these shirts.
Posted by: me at March 5, 2008 1:01 PM
I have the WBNS! in a line art/no gradient version too that I did before desperately trying to jazz it up...all this and more you can have. I'm right chuffed anyone would go so far as to do a t-shirt and it is free Pajiban domain via Dustin. I'll send him the other copy late tonight.
By the way, anyone can feel free to fix up the text on mine - text was never my forte (the illustration vs. design thing).
Also - who is with me on wanting to see Jeremy take a crack at Godtopus? I was considering trying to dredge up my teen-binder aesthetic and get a Murder Tank on the go, but my stuff is a bit femme. Can't help it. Also in consideration - renaissance versions of our reviewers...I keep seeing Ted as Marat on a LaZboy...

replica- A Godtopus t-shirt? The Murder Tank too? I must have them all!!!
Posted by: tamatha at March 5, 2008 1:14 PM
Sorry, I don't wear T-shirts. They're a little too juvenile for me. Although I was really tempted once to buy one that said, "Si Hoc Legere Scis Nimium Eruditionis Habes."
Posted by: BWeaves at March 5, 2008 1:16 PM
Seeing as I am artistically retarded, I have nothing new to add to the array of WBNS graphics except to say that the first design would be perfect for *ahem* a toddler size shirt to be worn by the original WBNS.
As for adults, may I suggests the graphics (especially replica's) appear on the back with maybe the Pajiba logo on the sleeve or a breast pocket placement.
You know what? I think I've been watching too much Project Runway because I sound like I think I know something about design.
Silly me.
On a slightly off note, my college direction class put on a semi-annual production of one act plays. There was a great tradition in the department of cool Director's Workshop t-shirts. My class got a student (who now has his own webcomic) to draw us all as superheroes on a comic cover. I was one of a pair of buxom, hand-cannon wielding badass chicks. Very apropos. Man, I love that t-shirt.

I have everything I need Skittimus. I've debated using InkJet Iron-Ons but they still have a tendency to wash off so I prefer the screens. As long as the flash dryer isn't too hot and you give the whites/grays time to dry properly everything comes out looking PIMP!
FYI...Julie has seen the graphic for the Bus(ted) tour shirt. i sent her a picture text with it like 10 days ago or so. I trust her feedback.

Ok, hopefully I'm not jinxing myself here, but how awesome is this day? First a killer bar fight breaks out in the DVD release comment thread; then news of an actual WBNS! t-shirt, with potential other Pajiba-themed items (sometimes wishes really do come true); and then tonight, is the season finale of Project Runway!
The only bad thing? I'm doing a miserable job of getting any work done... Multi-tasking--not my forte.

Skittimus, presentational markup is really simple, it's just impossible to provide an actual example of code tags on a comment thread because the tags disappear when the comment posts. It works exactly as Julie said, but if you prefer specific examples you can email me if you wish at sklarson@gmail.com and I would be happy to provide them.

My son kicks ass. And yes there are times when I want to leave him in the supermarket parking lot with a sign reading "Free to a good home." Seriously, you find a mom that says hasn't felt that way at one time or another about her offspring and she is a lying somethingorother.

I blame the internet. I makes me stupid.
Posted by: Alabamapink at March 5, 2008 11:11 PM
Aww, Julie, take heart. At least your hair's not red. I've spent about the last ten years trying to dye my hair brown, but the copper never goes away. I once managed to get rid of it when I dyed my hair black for a year, but then my stupid brother had to go and get married, and his stupid wife had to pick red bridesmaid dresses. My mother told me that if I was in my brother's wedding looking like Satan's handmaiden she would disown me, so I had to have my hair stripped. The black parts basically turned orange, and the roots turned a crazy sort of strawberry platinum. It was not awesome.
Alabamapink, I think the best parents are the ones who realistically look at their kids as entire people, annoyances and all. It means you see the whole kid, and not just what you want to see. Also, my parents have a picture of me as a toddler standing in an open doorway holding a rag and a bucket, and wearing a newsboy cap and a shirt that says "RENT A KID."
Posted by: Sarina at March 5, 2008 11:11 PM

Shadows: AWESOME.
Can I say Little Pink also owns a shirt that says "Proof that nerds do it."
Sarina: Yeah, today has been on of those days that I see my kid as an obnoxious, selfish little snit But I'll get up tomorrow and do it all again. Because I love the snot out of him.
I have a great picture from my childhood of playing guns with a couple of boys who lived across the street from my grandparent's house. I'm holding some sort of play AK-47. We look like Sandinista children. It's awesome and one day I'll put it on a tee-shirt.

Man, you just keep racking up the points there, Shadows. I never had a problem with my grey before, it's mostly contained to underneath where you can't see it unless I have my hair half pulled up. But my good friend (whom I love but is as blunt as a spoon) pointed out that "I REALLY needed to start dyeing my grey" scarred me. So I caved. Peer pressure is BAD. :contemplates smoking a cigarette:
My mother told me that if I was in my brother's wedding looking like Satan's handmaiden she would disown me, so I had to have my hair stripped.
Ha ha ha! Ahem. It's not funny. But seriously? Copper hair is pretty! I'm jealous, I have dark brown hair with teal-ish blue eyes, and I always thought a reddish color would complement them. Hmmm...I may need to experiment next time I visit CVS.

That was a joke within itself. In fact, when I was drawring it, I was thinking how funny it would be to see a kid with it on his/her onesie (I believe I actually mentioned it in a previous thread a couple days back). In all honestly, I'm both scared and excited in what I'll end up dressing my child in... Every kid is unique, and that being said, his/her parent's choice ovf attire SHOULD be an extention of the place the lil' mufukka/mufukkette came from.
Unless you're a Klan member... That's just fucked up right there...

Julie, that's hilarious - I want dark brown hair because I think it would look better with my eyes! They're three different colours, mostly green but with a ring of dark green around the outside edge and a ring of gold around the pupil. When I dyed my hair black they looked really green, but with my natural copper hair, the gold stands out much more and I look like I have freaky-deaky cat eyes. If only we could trade hair!
I guess it's kind of like when you go out to dinner and no matter what you order, your date's dinner always looks better when the food comes.

Hee, so true Sarina. Man, your eyes sound amazing. I love my blue eyes, I really do (mine are teal with gold around the pupil), but god DAMN would I kill to have green ones. My mom's are emerald and I'm jealous every time I look at her. Unless she's pissed, which is when they stop being pretty and turn into lasers that cut your very soul. :)
:gives you my hair...for a week, I'm fickle:
Posted by: Julie at March 6, 2008 12:29 AM
Word, Sarina. My hair is red as well, and every time I try to dye it it comes out red-tinted. I just did mine a very dark brown, but in the three weeks since I've colored it it's turned into yet another shade of auburn. *sigh*

I know its the wrong thread for this...but I immediately thought of the episodes in Scrubs when the girls start talking about shoes to get the guys to tune out mentally. Completely irrelevant subject, I'm sure...
"Shoes...." [sounds of waves crashing on the beach]

*sigh* I miss my purple hair :(
Put me down for one of literally everything you make - plus international shipping! Hmmm I wonder if there's some way I can charge the costs to my work. That's probably illegal.

Alex, Mimi, Sarina, it's too early in the morning for a Pajiban orgy. You're pretty- no YOU'RE pretty... I just assume we're all fricking gorgeous as hell and go from there. And sign me up for a shirt.
Pissboy- if you have some ideas that need help with execution, let me know. I am a kick ass designer but I don't have time to think of anything new myself. So if you need an Illustrator Monkey just say so.

Sarina and Mimi (if you are still reading)-
WHAT?!? You have red hair and you dye it another color that is not red?!? Are you serious?!?
I pay good money that I don't have to my absolutely wonderful hair person (she prefers the term stylist, but I am far too unhip for that) to get my "dark ash blonde" hair to be red. Your hair already comes in a fabulous color and you try to change it on purpose? Jaysus. I really don't get it. I guess the grass really is greener (or your date's food always looks better)...

I want one of each shirt, please, NOW! Seriously, are operators standing by? I have my credit card ready! And, for those of you dyeing your hair, I am ashamed to say I am a sister in L'Oreal......I know lots of women on whom that touch of gray is beautiful, but I am afraid that I will end up looking like Cruella DeVille. I have dark brown hair, always wanted red hair. Godtopus had different plans.....my daughter has the most beautiful, awesome red/gold hair you have ever seen. Random people would stop us when she was a baby just to look at her hair. Oh, well, when I am wearing my Scrabble Sex shirt, they will look at ME, DAMMIT!!!!

Damn strep throat, keeping me away from the interwebs.
I think that Julie and I should come up with a custom design for a "Pajibadelphian" shirt. Or "City of Brotherly Pajiba."
At any rate, I am going to proudly flaunt my WBNJ shirt at the shore all summer long, and glance disdainfully at those who do not understand.
[cuts eyes to the left, then right]

Hee! Nicole, if I had any inkling of creativity I would TOTALLY take you up on that offer.
And I love the taglines :)
Posted by: Julie at March 7, 2008 12:24 PM
I'm creative. :) done and done.
Posted by: PissBoy at March 7, 2008 3:17 PM
Man, I spend a few days at the office actually working and look what I miss. The shirts get one closer step to reality and TK calls out the zombie horde. Awesome.

I just realized I wrote "WBNJ" instead of "WBNS" because I'm apparently an illiterate idiot. Actually, I think it's because I'm so used to typing NJ, as in, the state.
Thank you to Julie and Pissboy for not calling me out on it.
Posted by: Nicole at March 7, 2008 8:56 PM
Nicole...how dare you?! There...I've called you out. Yuengling time!!!
Posted by: PissBoy at March 7, 2008 11:15 PM
Ah, Pissboy, you got me. I consider myself called out. Shall I be stripped of my Preston & Steve Frozen T-Shirt Champion status?
I'VE GOT IT!!! I will wear my WBNS shirt to the Memorial Day show, and redeem myself thus.
Let's go grab a lager.

Dude...eff the memorial day show. Come out to Finnegan's Wake on St. Patty's. I hafta go to that. Just did the cardboard classic last week and won 2nd place for individual design.
Posted by: PissBoy at March 9, 2008 7:30 PM
Seriously? That is so damn cool. I'm guessing you weren't around when they were playing BattlePiss, but I was totally thinking of you while listening and cracking up. Are there pics of you on the site?
I have to work St. Patty's. There's no way I can hit Finnegan's. Have a drink or four for me.
To the other 'jibans, don't mind our obscure morning radio love.

Certainly, there be pictures. I was dressed as Uma Ackbar. My entire outfit (the racing suit from Kill Bill) was made of nothing but duct tape and cardboard and then I built the bike to match. If you watch the full length Janis Video on the site you can see my run. And I'm up on the bikerpics.org link as well. Just go on the site, then go to the links page. Show events and video online....gallery #2 on bikerpics...page 3. Can't miss it. The gang from the show partied with me and my old man at the tailgate of his truck for about 25 mins or so before everything got started cuz I'm gangsta'! But I'll be there for this memorial day as well. I'm basically a whore for the show. (PS...next year's cardboard classic idea rumps this year's by miles)
Posted by: PissBoy at March 9, 2008 11:39 PM
Seriously. I just now got to see it.
That. Rocked.
Any non-Pajibadelphians, you must see this. This shit is out of hand. And awesomeness to the 10th degree.

PissBoy is the master of cardboard and duct tape, it's like Monet and watercolors, Dali and surrealism...or Georgia O'Keefe and vagina flowers. :p
Posted by: Julie at March 10, 2008 7:23 PM
I like da vagina flowers.
