When it comes to Detective Pikachu—the half CGI/half live action Warner Bros. movie about, yes, a detective Pikachu (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) that lands in cinemas in just a few weeks—I side pretty much with Kristy’s take on the matter: ‘This will either be a glorious mess or the greatest film of all time. That is if this is not just an elaborate hoax.’

The existence of the movie seems so unreal to me in fact that parodies of it have seemed to be basically redundant.

Until now.

Folks, I give you True Detective Pikachu:

Off-putting terror masks aside, I would totally watch that.

As a side note, one of my main worries on YouTube is finding something funny, and liking it, and then finding out that its creator is basically a barely concealed neo-Nazi or a frothing at the mouth MRA—it is YouTube after all. So it’s always a relief when you do a quick background check and that turns out to not be the case. In Detective Pikachu’s case, the creators are Sam and Bill from the ‘Sam and Bill Comedy’ channel. I know literally nothing about them apart from that Detective Pikachu trailer—they seem to mostly do comical musical covers—but based on the following parody of the aforementioned racist/MRA types also found on YouTube, they seem like two of the good guys at least:
