As any watcher of Ryan Murphy’s series knows, the man has no fear. He loves to go all the way, and beyond. Sex with snakes? No problem. Chopping up live people? Par for the course. Lampshades fashioned from nipples…just another day. All these things are a great part of what we love about American Horror Story, a series that takes us where we haven’t been before. Following on the heels of a murder house, an insane asylum and New Orleans’ voodoo and witches, AHS: Freak Show is set in Jupiter, Florida (does that mean we can expect a visit from fan-not-favorite aliens?) and centers on a group of true misfits; conjoined sisters, Bette and Dot, the bearded Ethel Darling, triple-breasted Desiree Dupree, and Jessica Lange as their presumably cruel German keeper. So far we’ve got the usual superquick, creepy teasers, which include:

An appendage:

A forked-tongue:

A three-legged acrobat:

And, a caged human:

In addition to Sarah Paulson’s Dot/Bette, Angela Bassett’s three-boobed goddess, Kathy Bates’ beardening and Jessica Lange, we’ve got Michael Chiklis as strongman, Wendell Del Toledo, Denis O’Hare (described as a “freak collector”), Bates’ and Chiklis’ son Jimmy, played by Evan Peters, John Carroll Lynch as Twisty (“the clown killer”), Frances Conroy as performer, Matilda Hapschatt, and Emma Roberts as Maggie.

Freak Show also stars Gabourey Sidibe, Patti LaBelle, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer and Jamie Brewer; Danny Huston is rumored for a return. Season 4 starts October 8th. Wir sind alle freaks, indeed.
