Everything about Texas Senator Wendy Davis' filibuster was great (except for the inevitable result), but The Daily Show coverage always manages to not only put something monumental into perspective, but cement her heroic status.

So, just to be clear, this is how politics works in Amerika:

When the Democraps are in charge, the Republi-Cons simply threaten a filibuster and the Democraps immediately concede.

When the Republi-Cons are in charge, if a Democrat threatens a filibuster, the Republi-Cons

    a) make the Democrat actually filibuster, and then
    b) go ahead and do what they want to do anyway

Notice in every scenario the Republi-Cons always win.

It's almost like the game is rigged . . .

As crappy as things get sometimes, knowing someone like Sen. Davis is out there fighting makes it a little better.
Kind of amazed at how little mention the time stamp forgery is getting in the mainstream media.

  • Sara_Tonin00

The NYTimes had an article (link for it is broken on the site right now) about the whole thing, which included a line about how the time stamp "was changed for reasons unknown" - which earned a lot of scoffing in the comments.

  • dizzylucy

As it should have! Reasons unknown, pfft.
I see a lot of coverage of it on blogs, social media, and smaller news outlets, at least, so the story is out there.

Well if we don't have enough female role models in film we'll have to "settle" for the real live ones like Senator Davis.

Here's another one - Rep. Tammy Duckworth delivered a scathing smackdown on a guy who's been claiming to be an disabled veteran and benefiting from govt. jobs, after breaking his foot in military prep school 30 years ago.
Let's just say she is not a person to be messed with.

  • That was some next level shit.

  • BWeaves

Yeah! I just watched Tammy Duckworth's takedown of that guy.

  • John W

I've got my fingers crossed that she ends up being the Governor of Texas sometime in the near future.

  • MissAmynae

We're already working on it, should she choose to run.

  • Faithful Dushness

She won't have to run. She'll just stand there.

So the creed of all women is "Bitches be crazy"?

    Good to know.

  • Mrs. Julien

    Bitches get shit done!

  • emmalita

Remember when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were on SNL and saying "Bitch is the new Black"?

Will this finally get us organized?

  • MissAmynae

Texas Bitches git shit done. With great hair, and a "bless your heart, darlin'"

That link makes me so flipping angry, especially since I live in Texas. In a small town.
