A big turning point in my film-loving life was being 14 and watching American Beauty. Kevin Spacey’s character’s house had a bright red door and I remember my little teen brain going “Whoa, symbolism! …Or something, maybe.” I know, I know, I was a simple child.

This Stanley Kubrick supercut highlights his obsession with red, which he used a lot. You probably already realized that, but it’s pretty impressive to see it all strung together. Because, you know, symbolism. …Or something.
