One Of TV's Whitest Shows Doubled Down On The Pasty For This Amazing Music Video

As they are wont to do, The Good Wife ripped their case of the week in last night’s episode straight from the headlines. The show took on the case of Jonathan Coulton vs. Glee. (In case you missed it, here’s a handy recap of that disaster.) The point is, in order to simulate the case, the show wrote a knock-off of Coulton’s famous parody* of “Baby Got Back.” The parody of the parody, “Thicky Trick,” then proceeded to play, by my conservative estimate, eleventy billion times over the course of the episode. But this music video of the cast, crew, F Murray Abraham and Coulton stand-in Matthew Lillard dancing around on set makes it all better.

I know! You thought F Murray Abraham would be the worst dancer but, my god, check out those mom dance moves on Julianna Margulies. I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that tight-fitting blazer was probably restricting her shoulder movements.

Either way, Alicia and Will end up looking like the most attractive suburban parents to ever embarrass their kids at a school function. Christine Baranski is, of course, a gorram professional and Matt Czuchry aka Cary Agos? He ain’t bad at all.

*I’m not a lawyer, so I may have used that incorrectly. Jury’s still out, I think.

I like this show and it's been so fantastic this year, but...for some reason I get a little embarrassed for them when they try to do stuff like this, pop culture or music or tech. It never seems quite right, like corporate America trying to mimic what the "hip kids" are into. And if I heard that song one more time I was going to lose it. I can't even imagine the poor souls who work on the show and had to hear it a million times more.
But it was all worth it for the Will/Alicia courtroom fighting.

...and appropriatly enough, Kalinda is too cool to join in.

  • Enrique del Castillo

This video actually made me white. It will be hard to explain why I suddenly changed my race, but I guess I can just show some of the gifs and everyone will understand.

  • Stu Rat

Using race as an insult? Nice one Pajiba. I applaud your refusal to use the PC term "Rhythmically Challenged" to subtly indicate caucasians. Although you did trot out 'suburban', which, frankly, is kind of lazy.

I don't know when it happened, but sometime in the last five years this CBS (!!) show (recommended by my mother-in-law!!) has become my absolute favorite thing on TV. I look forward to it with the fervor my 13-year-old self looked forward to new episodes of The X-Files (which was...a lot).

I'll save my conflicting feelings about Matthew Lillard for another day but I sort of love him now? And I don't know when that happened either.

Matthew Lillard has been great these past few years (a beard always helps). I only "watch" the show because other people in my house are watching lol, but it is enjoyable. I did watch that Thicky Trick last night and was laughing my ass off.

At first I didn't see Matthew Lillard, then I did and was reminded that I was old.

I want that jacket Juliana M. is wearing. I do so love severe tailioring and that colour scheme. In the winter, I wear almost exclusively black, white and gray with a little red thrown in.

How many people did I lull back to sleep with that little maunder? I'm going for 1 in 7 who bothered to read it, including lurkers.

  • cox

i read it and nodded along, so there!

  • Mrs. Julien

So I still have 6 more chances is what you are saying.

Perfect way to start the day.
