On Last Night's 'The Late Show,' Stephen Colbert Read the Top Ten List He Submitted to Letterman in 1997

Seventeen years ago, Stephen Colbert and his writing partner submitted a packet to apply for writing positions on Letterman’s show. However, by the time that Letterman got around to answering the application, Colbert’s Strangers with Candy had already been picked up, and the rest is history.

However, Colbert did still have the top ten list he submitted to the show back in 1997, and he brought it out last night on The Late Show, where he will take over from Letterman next year.

As Top Ten Lists go, it’s a good one.
