Midnight on the Water: Patton Oswalt Wins Best Ever Rust Cohle Impression

By Cindy Davis | Videos | March 18, 2014 | Comments ()

While True Detective and Matthew McConaughey may be long gone from HBO, most of us still have pieces of Rust Cohle monologues floating around in our heads…haunting us. Fret not, my fellow chickadees, Patton Oswalt is here to save the day (or night, as it were). The comedian diligently Tweeted away those eight episodes, and it seem he just can’t get Rust out of his head.

Oswalt actually made the video to promote his stand-up special, Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time which airs on Comedy Central, April 6th.

Now fess up, how many of you are using Yellow King as an alias?

The Yellow King was totally my Steam handle for a while.

It was worth it for cinnamon smell

  • John G.

life? Life is worth it for the cinnamon smell?

  • amberdragonfly

I'm pretty sure he meant baking. Baking is worth it for the cinnamon smell.

  • Sara_Tonin00

What the hell. How many things are gonna be on April 6? There's just so much a person can dvr.

  • zeke_the_pig

I would pay this man to sit on my shoulder and dispense wisdom, laughs and impressions as I progress through life.

  • John G.

Once you reach the level of Rustin Oswalt, there is no more progressing. You see we all got what I call a life trap, a gene deep certainty that things will be different... that you'll move to another city and meet the people that'll be the friends for the rest of your life... that you'll fall in love and be fulfilled... fucking fulfillment... and closure whatever the fuck those two fuckin' empty jars to hold this shit storm. Nothing's ever fulfilled, not until the very end. and closure. Nothing is ever over.... shit, sorry, I drift... sometimes when I've had a few, that's why I like to drink alone, one of the reasons anyway.

  • Robert Sanchez III

Patton is the shit. Though I did see this special on epic already and it is my least favorite of his sets that I've seen, which makes me sad.

  • Captain Ron Swanson

Shouldn't it be Comedy - Tragedy = Time?

Never mind, it's funnier his way.

They don't teach proper use of the transitive property in comedy writing workshops.
