Michelle Obama Destroys the Internet, Slam Dunks a Basketball in the White House

By Dustin Rowles | Videos | January 21, 2014 | Comments ()

I guess the Miami Heat were at the White House to accept some award for winning the NBA Championship … ohmygodwhocares! Look at Michelle Obama slam dunk, and then own it.

Three observations I’d like to make:

1) You can really tell how tall Michelle Obama is when she stacks up well with the basketball players in the room.

2) LeBron’s quick exit is hilarious.

3) I love the initial reactions of Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen, like ‘Who the f**k is this lad … .oh. Hi First Lady.’

Oh yeah? Well Canada has Rob Ford (I don't live in Toronto anymore, but I claim him as my own). Now THAT'S entertainment!

I feel sorry for the next First Lady/Husband, this is one tough act to follow.

  • ryallen

    D Wade was like wtf

  • Where's Nancy Reagan when we need her to show how to behave. All passive aggressive and spiteful.

  • e jerry powell

    I mean, really.

Plus which, I'm not surprised that she has game, because she comes from a basketball family,

  • Michelle I adore you, you tall drink of water. Note: she is barefoot so not only is she comfortably hanging with tall dudes, she's doing it sans-heels. Somebody please get me that adorable yet practical wrap dress stat.

The best part will be seeing Fox News reporting on this later with thin-lipped, lemon-faced disapproval.

  • Somehow we'll see this connected to that obnoxious idiot from Seattle Seahawks.

  • Pajiba_Pragmatist

Yes, and I think that's intentional. Food deserts in inner cities are well known, and there is significant cultural bias against "healthy snacks". Here's some figures from the most recent epidemiology report on obesity.

African American women have the highest rates of being overweight or obese compared to other groups in the U.S. About four out of five African American women are overweight or obese.

In 2011, African Americans were 1.5 times as likely to be obese as Non- Hispanic Whites.

In 2011, African American women were 80% more likely to be obese than Non-Hispanic White women.

In 2007-2010, African American girls were 80% more likely to be overweight than Non-Hispanic White girls.

What in the hell are you talking about? Not only do I not understand your point in relation to my comment (or any of the other ones here), but I don't even know why you're making the point in the first place.

  • Pajiba_Pragmatist

I was taking your comment as "That segment seems heavily directed towards African Americans."

My response was "why yes, TK, it is possible that the segment was not heavily directed at African Americans by accident. Given the high rate of obesity in that community, I believe they intentionally skewed the demographics of the participants to have greater impact with African Americans."

However, it's possible because this was on a thread about Fox News, that was not your point.

but yeah, we have may crossed each other in the jet stream there

  • TK

Yeah, we definitely crossed the streams there. I was simply taking a shot at Fox News with that comment.

Sorry for snapping, it's been a week.

  • Pajiba_Pragmatist

No problem! I totally missed the thread and only saw your comment - going off on the tangent was completely my fault.

I am one of those who favors the effort Michelle Obama is undertaking to address inner city food deserts and obesity in the african american communities, So I jumped on the grenade when none was there.

  • e jerry powell

    I'm a fat-ass and I resemble that remark.

  • TK

Goddamnit, I hate the Heat so fucking much, but I can't deny that they are, on occasion, hilarious.

    The full video is terrific:

Why does the man holding the microphone look like someone repeatedly flattened him in the face as a child?

  • e jerry powell

Truly. Their Harlem Shake video is the only reason that I don't want them shipped to Mars via FedEx.

  • Krissy

I agree on both counts. HATE the Heat but the video is awesome.

7.6 from the Tea Party judge, but the high (10.0) and low scores are dropped. Score: 9.875.

yep thats Ray Allen, not Chris Bosh

  • pajiba

TK fixed it for me. I'm an idiot whose knowledge of the NBA is gleaned only from what I learn during commercial breaks in NFL games (which is to say, I knew Bosh, Wade, and LeBron were on the same team, and drew the wrong conclusion).

Between this and her special Beyonce concert, I'd say FLOTUS had the best 50th birthday.
