Mandatory Hipster Viewing: The Wes Anderson Slo-Mo Supercut

By Joanna Robinson | Videos | January 9, 2014 | Comments ()

Over the holidays, huddled around a fire and sipping the frostiest of PBRs, a friend asked me which was my favorite Wes Anderson film. My response elicited a chorus of aloof “of course it is.” What the c*ss? Apparently Tenenbaums is the uncool answer. But be you a Baumer, a Khaki Scout or a crewman on the Belafonte, this supercut of Anderson’s slo-mo scenes has something for you. At the very least, it’s a fun look at the many hairstyles of Jason Schwartzman. RIP, Pagoda.

Do you have a favorite? Mine, of course, comes by way of the Green Line bus.

Are you following Pajiba on Facebook or Twitter? Because every time you do an angel does the Paul Rudd dance

Fuck wes Anderson snobs. I love Royal Tennenbaum. It's comprehensive and pretty much the only one where irritating bad-touching adult-children antics (which just rubs me in all wrong ways and places) are restrained to 11, that I saw (somehow I missed Steve Zissou).

  • kirbyjay

Does Jason Schwartzman have a slo-mo rider in his contract?
and I vote Moonrise Kingdom. I was superbly charmed by that flick.
and are The Shins considered hipster? Perhaps I should get me a tight fitting vest and a jaunty Fedora.

  • Yocean

Ohhhhh that's also a great one!!

  • Darlene

You and I have the same answer. It's by far my favorite.

  • One of these days, Wes Anderson is going to hit the pretentious event horizon, there will be a sucking sound, and all of his movies will compress to form the universe's most precious black hole.

  • Uriah_Creep

I was really expecting that comment from Jezzer, but I guess you can fill in for now.

  • Wigamer

That made me happier than it should have.

  • emmalita

I am not ashamed of my Wes Anderson love.

  • And rightfully so

  • TheOriginalMRod

I am sure there is some MBTI test out there somewhere that reveals your hipster personality type based on which Wes Anderson film is your favorite. Mine was the Baumers until I saw Moonrise Kingdom.

  • Pat

There's plenty of room for you at the uncool table, Joanna

  • Ofir Fishkin

What song is this?, i feel like i should know but i don't.

  • Jenn Hamm

New Slang by The Shins- and I am in no way a hipster. It is a great album, though.

  • JoannaRobinson

    Mandatory hipster response.

so that's where i remember this from?
i tried to forget this movie

  • Ofir Fishkin

so that's where i remember this from?
now i feel dirty,i tried to forget this movie

  • Darlene

Garden State is the movie...the song is "New Slang" by The Shins.

  • Yocean

It's also on the soundtrack of Scrubs season one, the other Zach Braff vehicle, from which he probably burrowed on Garden State. There, un-dirtied you.
