So Jarhead was the film adaptation of the critically acclaimed, best selling memoir of a Marine during the First Gulf War directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes. It cost $72 million to make, and took in just $62 million. A well-reviewed and received failure. And it had Jake Gyllenhaal looking like this:

Jarhead 2: Field of Fire is the straight to DVD “sequel” to Jarhead that is a “sequel” in that it is “inspired” by Jarhead.

Watch closely, kids. This is what career suicide looks like.

  • I'm not sure Bokeem Woodbine has a career to hang from a support beam, but yes, this looks atrocious.

  • JustOP

    What an abomination.

  • Berry

I love the word abomination for some reason.

  • muscleman

I think they're trying to get the same people who liked, "Lone Survivor."

  • meadowdancer

Yep. Because they sure didn't see the first one.

  • ZbornakSyndrome

I like Jarhead, but was it really such a box office draw that it needed a sequel? Let alone a sequel that seems completely unaware of the message of the movie that preceded it.

  • Wrestling Fan

    Well, that certainly looks.....

    ummm....

    ......like a movie.

(honestly, that is the absolute best I can say about it based on the preview.)

  • ZbornakSyndrome

    I think you're being kind.

  • Dove of Doom

The whole point of Jarhead is showing the disillusionment of young soldiers who grew up thinking action movie bullshit like that was what war would be like.

  • Batesian

Hollywood excels at missing the point.

  • emmalita

    I can't even watch it.
