In His First TV Appearance Since "The Incident," Fred Willard Discusses His Free Willy Moment on Late Night with Fallon

God bless Fred Willard. I appreciate that the guy getting out in front of "the incident," and openly discussing it, as he did freely on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" last night. Fallon was certainly eager with the masturbation puns (and Willard even joined in). I'm a little disconcerted that Willard won't come right out and admit to the petty crime. He's sticking with his "wrong place at the wrong time" story, and maybe it is true, although the wrong place in this instance doesn't leave a lot of room for interpretation.

"It's the last time I'm going to listen to my wife when she says 'Why don't you go out and see a movie?" Willard says he mistook an adult theater for an "exotic, Polynesian" one, apparently.

Whatever, Willard. Not a soul that matters cares what he was doing in that theater.

I should also mention that Willard was on to discuss his new show, Trust Us With Your Life, and I happened to catch a segment the other day. It was brilliant, if only because he had Wayne Brady and the guys from "Whose Line Is It?" on to act out some of the memories of Serena Williams' tennis career.

We really never appreciated "Whose Line Is It?" as much as we should have.

I loved Whose Line so much, it was much appreciated in this house. I've never seen this show, but that sideways floor bit was great. I'm going to check it out for sure. Wayne Brady was oddly preoccupied with Serena's butt, he mentioned it 3 times in 10 minutes.

  • thaneofmemphis

When I read about the sideways floor screen bit on Trust Us with Your Life, I thought it sounded really stupid. But that tennis bit had me rolling. Well, played, sirs.

  • googergieger

Luckily they advertised heavily for Trust Us With Your Life so I could start watching it before it was cancelled. As a huge Whose Line fan I appreciate this. Or you know, why the fuck wasn't I told it started airing ABC?! Anywhoots, yeah Colin Mochrie and Ryan Styles for best couple ever.

    Josie Lawrence, bitches!

We really never appreciated “Whose Line Is It?” as much as we should have.

    Speak for yourself, Kemo Sabe.

  • F'mal DeHyde

Whatever, Willard. Not a soul that matters cares what he was doing in that theater.

Thank you. When this was first posted about here, the comment section got a little heated because apparently it DOES matter to some people, although I have no idea why.

  • Slash

I don't care if Fred actually did jerk it, he's a national treasure.

And yeah, "Whose Line" was fucking awesome. Miss it.

  • Three_nineteen

I used to watch the original British version on Comedy Central. Boy, I miss Clive Anderson.

  • jmd

I miss Who's Line.. Who peed in Colin's cornflakes that morning? "you little man, you are not worth fighting over" had me truly laughing!

  • I loved Whose LIne so much it hurts...and to see at least some version of it back on TV makes me very very happy.

  • Javier

I dreamt last night that I was meeting Colin Mochrie

  • AudioSuede

Even on their sides, those guys are damned talented.

  • BWeaves

I love good improve, and I miss Who's Line Is it Anyway. This looks funny. When's it on?

Actually, makes you wonder if Willard got "caught" just to get some free publicity for his show.

  • Javier

    Tuesday nights on ABC

It is really funny. the first I saw was the Ricky Gervais one and he was all "what the hell am I doing here?!" and everyone knew it. they even mocked him for it

I do miss certain Whose Line jokes (scenes from a hat, props, etc.) but this one has a nice repertoire, specially the lying down one.

  • Miss Laaw-yuhr

If only he'd thought to hook up with Kristen Stewart.

  • "I have no idea where he would have gotten ahold of German pornography. But you and I are mature adults; we've both seen our share of pornographic materials. Oh, you never have? Of course you haven't, how stupid of me. Neither have I. I was just speaking in generalities. Right. I'll stop by the school a little later, Sister Margaret. Bye."

This is all I can think of whenever this incident is mentioned.

  • Javier

Is, is that a Grounded for Life reference?

hot damn, is Donald Logue awesome

  • Nope. Anchorman.

  • Javier

    ah, yes, I remember now.

I could've sworn there was a similar exchange in Grounded
