If Wes Anderson Had Directed 'Forrest Gump,' the World Would Be a Better Place

I have to admit, I’ve never spent any time sitting around wishing Wes Anderson had directed Forrest Gump. However, I now see that that was a mistake on my part. A filmmaker named Louis Paquet has crafted an opening title sequence based on that concept, and it’s so clever and twee, positively brimming over with that Anderson quirk, that I would give a Kickstarter campaign all my money* to make this film a reality.

*That’s not very much money.

My only criticism would be that the shots run on a tad too long.. the military one and the shrimp one in particular. So the pacing there could be a little tighter... but overall it was fabulous, and very cute. Good job :D

I have tried to watch Forrest Gump four times and fallen asleep everytime, so this would pnly be an improvement for me.

  • No, no, no, no. Look, the turd was released and it's now forever bobbing in the swimming pool of cinema history. There's no use in sending a perfectly good man back into the past to get his hands and perfectly tailored clothes dirty by helping to maybe deliver it slightly better. In fact can we all just stop talking about Forrest Gump completely? I feel like I took a dip in that pool once, and now every time I'm on the cusp of forgetting and feeling clean someone brings it up and goddammit it's like it's bobbing right next to me all over again.

I don't care how uncool it makes me, I love Forrest Gump and I am completely okay with people knowing that fact. Completely. Okay.

  • Uriah_Creep

That was almost poetic. And I agree 100%.

  • I'm going to call bullshit on your headline, because the only way the phrase 'If Wes Anderson _________, The World Would Be A Better Place' rings true is if you fill in the blank with 'Never Made Another Movie.'

  • Harold HIll

Wes Anderson is so good that even his mimics look brilliant.

  • Jezzer

Give all the characters on Forrest Gump crippling quirkiness and change the soundtrack to era-specific B-sides, and it pretty much already is a Wes Anderson movie.

By which I mean, a quirky piece of shit with characters I would love to see hurled into the sun.

  • Navaho Jesus

I love Wes Anderson, I have a soft spot in my heart for Forrest Gump, but this elicited a well-deserved "meh" with an accompanying shoulder shrug.

  • Unless your Uncle Jacob did it while wearing goofy clothes and having his neuroses choreographed to an quirky soundtrack, not even Wes Anderson cares.
