Gwyneth Paltrow Gangsta Raps, Claims the Title of the Phil Dunphy of Moms

Some time in the last year — between singing F*ck You with Cee-Lo, vigorously shaking her “thing” in Country Strong, and prancing around in leather while flirting with school children in “Glee” — Gwyneth Paltrow transcended the line between painfully embarrassing and adorably embarrassing, the kind of harmless humiliation that Phil Dunphy inflicts on his children in “Modern Family.” She solidified that status this week, performing a little impromptu NWA on “The Graham Norton Show.” And I think she could’ve gone on for another verse or six, had the audience not politely applauded her silent. Someone get this woman a sitcom.

Goddamnit. That was kind of . . . cute.

You've won this round, Paltrow, bringing the score to

Paltrow - 1
Kballs - 8,432,845

I knew that as far as actress hate goes, Gwyneth Paltrow is the new black, but I like her, generally.

She's no Katherine Heigl, anyway.

The bitch is out of control!

I blame all of you. Y'all gave her attention and now she thinks she can do anything.

Kballs, my thoughts exactly.

I love you, Gwyneth!

Always and forever!

My God, the things I would do to that woman.*

was that geoffrey rush on the couch fidgeting uncomfortably and looking around to slap whoever had booked him on the same show as gwynnie?

Posted by: melia at May 19, 2011 9:58 AM

melia, it certainly is. But it can't beat the combination of Catherine Tate and 50 Cent that Graham had on last season.

I have always been unapologetic about my love for Gwyneth. I don't know what it is about her, but I just kinda wanna marry her. I could watch "Sliding Doors" on repeat. I thought her performance at the Oscars was endearing. I think her wardrobe is AMAZING. And I just really want to pretend to eat lunch with her and Blythe Danner and speak in fake British accents. Is that so wrong?

And have you seen her ass? I covet that ass.

Anyone who shares my unabashed crush should really watch Ryan Murphy's first show, "Popular," and in particular the episode where Mary Cherry and Nicole kidnap Gwynnie's personal shopper. Murphy is clearly obsessed with her, and I'm glad to see his efforts pay off with "Glee."

Gwynnie. As tediously laid-back-yet-a-total-fucking-control-freakesque as ever.

Fuck that. She busts into Straight Outta Compton and you people (get off my lawn!) are complaining? She's the muthafucka that you read about. She's probably got bitches galore. You may have a lot of bitches but she's got much more.

I still don't understand the hate people have for her. I think she is fantastic.

I want to pretend to eat lunch with her and Blythe Danner and The Pink Hulk.

"I still don't understand the hate people have for her"

she was in the movie that stole the Best Picture Oscars from Saving Private Ryan.

I like her. She has never pissed me off to the level of Julia Roberts or Meryl Streep. Pajiba has these irrational hatreds that spring up.

Her voice is what always irritated me. Especially in Sky Captain. And while this definitely scores points on the overall scale, I would be more impressed if she had busted Eazy, rather than motherfucking Ice Cube.

Posted by: YLlama at May 19, 2011 10:04 PM

I still don't get why people hate her. I just... really would like someone to explain this to me. She's just... Gwyneth Paltrow.

Posted by: kayla at May 19, 2011 11:37 PM

Also - this totally feels like it was set up. Like she knew he'd ask her to rap. Just a feeling I have about the way the interview led up to that point.

And why does the background music have to be sirens? Whatevs.

Posted by: kayla at May 19, 2011 11:39 PM

Just to clarify, she rapped the lyrics to Gangsta Gangsta, not Straight Outta Compton. And kayla, the background music has to be sirens because that was the predominant sound in the background to the track on the album.
