Goodbye Sweet Prince: John Oliver Tearfully Bids Farewell to 'The Daily Show'
After seven and a half years on The Daily Show, including a stint last summer in which he substituted for Jon Stewart in the anchor chair, England’s fake-news comedy prince, John Oliver, appeared in his final episode last night. Oliver will be headed to HBO this summer with his own show.
Apparently, as you can see in the video below, Jon Stewart and John Oliver worked on a (lame) bit for much of yesterday that they had planned run as Oliver’s final segment, but Stewart surprised him by scrapping it and running a retrospective of much of Oliver’s best work over the years at The Daily Show. By the end of it, the studio audience was on their feet, and John Oliver was in tears.
It’s a little misty in here.
