A Sparkly New 'Into the Woods' Featurette Gives Us What We Want: More Singing, More Meryl

It’s been a rough road leading up to the Into the Woods opening. First were the rumors (if you can call a direct quote from Stephen Sondheim “rumors”) of changes to the script and cut songs. Then we got our first trailer that left everyone wondering if there would be any singing in this thing at all. The first musical trailer was a game changer, though. Suddenly this movie was demanding to be taken seriously.

Now we have a new behind-the-scenes featurette, with an extended look at Meryl Streep positively killing the heartbreaking “Stay With Me.” It’s impossible (and completely unnecessary) to compare the two, but Meryl’s definitely giving Bernadette Peters a run for her money, no?
