A Mother's Day 'Thanks, Mom' Video that Gets What Moms Really Do

Cheers to writer Johanna Stein (via Jezebel) for giving us a Mother’s Day video thanking moms for what we really do. Because it’s not all selfless martyrdom and sleepless nights. Sometimes it’s “here, watch PBS on mommy’s phone, I’ve got Mad Men on the DVR.”

Happy Mother’s Day, you fancy mothers and motherfuckers out there.

Happy Mother’s Day, you fancy mothers and motherfuckers out there.

Well now I know what I'm putting in my Mother's Day cards this year.

This is amazingly perfect. Save the sentimental Hallmark rhyming couplet stuff for other moms this works for me.

My brother, Dad, and I were making fun of my mom on Mother's Day (which I can admit was not the best idea) she was already having a not so good day, so as she walk up the stairs while we were laughing at her, she shouted "Happy Mother's Day Fuckers!" She's at the point were she can laugh at it.

I admit under my mother's tutelage (and with an assist from my father) I was cursing at an 8th grade level by the time I turned six. Also, she taught me all about sex when I was five (using proper names and biology textbook graphics), enabling me to hold an impromptu lecture for my friends at recess. So I was definitely the coolest kid in school for a few years.
    Thanks mom!

  • My mom actually doesn't swear. Ever. So I'll save my thanks for Father's Day. Because that definitely has to come from somewhere. So thanks dad.

My mother was a principal in Baltimore, so she was a connoisseur of swearing. She has been called everything imaginable by students, parents and occasionally teachers.
So when she needed to, my mother could THROW DOWN with the cursing.

My mom bought herself her favorite Mother's Day card. One crocodile talking to another says, "around Mother's Day I regret eating ALL my young."

  • Melina

My son did one of those, "What I love about my mom" thing...under what "she always says" was "I love you", but the teacher confiding in me that first he finished that sentence with, "She always says, fuck".

  • BWeaves

Nah, that was written by an adult.

  • Uriah_Creep

Yeah, it was pretty clearly staged, but it was still damn cute.

  • Mrs. Julien

I want this mug for Mother's Day.

  • PerpetualIntern

I'm pregnant and my husband got me that for Christmas. It's amazing and I use it all the time.

  • Ruthie O

It's what I aspire to be! Shit, if I can reach "okay" status, I'll be doing alright.

  • ZbornakSyndrome

I got that for my mother two years ago. She flipped me off, and we laughed. It was a real Hallmark moment.
