Last Night on "SNL": What Happens In Your Ass, Stays in Your Ass
After last week's episode, which nearly rose to the level of mediocre, the "SNL" crew squander the talents of another great host. This season, it's almost as if, the better the host, the worse the show. Beyond the monologue, there was exactly one decent skit the entire night.
Zach Galfianakis Monologue
A four-minute stand-up routine! Clearly, the "SNL" writers did not write any of this, i.e., it's funny.
A Scared Straight program for kids about the dangers of prison rape. We now know you can say taint on NBC. Bonus: Hangover references: "What happens in your ass, stays in your ass."
That's it for good skits last night. That's all you're getting. Here are some notable misfires:
The Digital Short is essentially "Kids Say the Darndest Things" with Galifianakis, only instead of "darn thing," the kids are scripted, and it's bad. Very bad.
Weekend Update Highlights
There "highlights" of Weekend Update are all of one minute long. There are four jokes. None of them are funny.
Corn Syrup Commercial
This commercial, with two parents arguing over high-fructose corn syrup, is actually funny, until the punchline.
Canadian Entertainment Program
A Canadian version of "Access Hollywood." It's just painful. If you can make it to the third minute, you're a stronger man than I.
