I have zero shame when it comes to loving up on every tidbit and and morsel coming out for the new iteration of Disney’s DuckTales. The gorgeous animation! The perfect casting! I don’t know if this show is supposed to be an explicit nostalgia grab custom-made for my generation, but if you’re gonna give me a Duckburg populated by the Tenth Doctor, Abed, and Alexander Hamilton, well… who am I to say no?

We have a little less than a month to go until the show premieres on Disney XD with an hour-long movie, airing on August 12th (before the show hits its regular stride in September). And to tide us over, Disney released the two and a half minute sneak peek they revealed exclusively at the D23 Expo over the weekend.

David Tennant’s Scrooge McDuck sounds far more charming than I remember him from my youth, but since I don’t think Tennant can really be anything short of charming, it’s probably to be expected. That crusty, mean side of Scrooge comes through in the end, though, when he sees who is abusing their bathtub privileges! Probably the biggest surprise is the way they have revamped Webby (voiced by Kate Micucci, who deserves all the good things). I remember her as a sweet tagalong in the original show, but here she is an intense and imaginative foil for Huey, Dewey, and Louie. She proves that girls don’t just want to have fun — they want to have a fleshed out fake backstory to give them the drive to WIN.

So, house rules: kiddie war games are a-ok, but letting Donald bring a washboard into the tub is going to be an issue.
