CBS's "Crazy Ones" Trailer: How Much Robin Williams Can You Stand?

This is old-school, beardless, 50-miles-a minute, schizophrenic Robin Williams, and honestly, I'm kind of looking forward to "Crazy Ones," because I do have some nostalgic affection for that Robin Williams, before the family-movie beat dragged him into the comedy sewer. I think there's still something in the tank, and Sarah Michelle Gellar isn't so bad, either (that's not true, but whatever). Williams seems well suited to this pilot, which is about a father and daughter working at an ad agency. He's manic, but tempered by the fact that he's on CBS. It reminds me of "Mork and Mindy" Robin Williams, and I'm OK with that.

The rest of the CBS trailers will go up tomorrow, although from what I've seen so far, I'm not that impressed.

Is it just me or has CBS just found a way to sneak major league product placement into a show? And it's a show about an ad agency so they're gonna need a lot of product to push...

  • e jerry powell

Nope. Still must have rainbow suspenders.

  • Stephen Nein

Two & Half Men America is going to eat this shit up with a grin.

  • kirbyjay

    a. They couldn't come up with a better title?

    b. I love Hamish, a person not a jewish condiment

    c. Why does this remind me of David Adddison and Maddie Hayes. Cool cut-up vs icy bitch.

    d. I'll give it a twirl

  • Fabius_Maximus

Danny Crane in advertising? No, thank you.

  • sean

Oh, about that much. Unless he is doing something serious, I have no interest in Williams anymore. Make him a lunatic killer, and I will watch

  • Lee

Yep. In those comedies, he always has that ingratiating simpering smile which have become beyond irritating. He's great playing a creepy creepster, like in that camera movie or Insomnia.

  • poopnado

I will put up with any amount of Robin Williams if it means I get to see SMG again.

  • Luke Anthony Matthews

it's THAT guy from THAT Sigourney Weaver show and Happy Endings. HOT.

  • Mythra Sun

Sigh..oh Buffy. First Ringer and now this? How the mighty have fallen. Can't SMG use the Joss Whedon connection to get better material sent to her?

  • Devil Child

She really was beneath the material she got working with Whedon. I know everyone, including me, loves Buffy, but Geller's pretty D-League.

  • e jerry powell

But more D-League than Jennifer Love Hewitt?

  • cicatricella

I hate to say it, but I kinda love it. Hope it lives up to its promise.

I'm hoping this is a success if only because it may lead to Gillian Anderson trying a comedy sometime down the line. Both her and SMG were quite funny when given a chance to do a bit of comedy on their respective shows.
