HBO still hasn’t confirmed a damn thing about the second season other than it will happen, Nic Pizzolatto is writing it, and that it’ll probably air next summer, but one cast member from the season of True Detective has finally confirmed his involvement.

Speaking to the Sunday World, Colin Farrell confirmed that he’s on board.

“I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited.”

Beyond that, he doesn’t know much.

“I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.”

He also revealed that the rest of the cast has not yet been locked down, which means that Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaughn, and none of the 9 actresses rumored to be up for the female role — including Jessica Biel, Rosaria Dawson, Rachel McAdams, and Elisabeth Moss —have officially signed on.

So far, what we know about the plot is that it’s expected to echo the plot of Chinatown: The mystery is to be kickstarted by the murder of a City Manager of a fictional Californian city and will involve California’s transportation systems and a corrupt scheme to link North and South California with a high speed train, all in pursuit of profitable land ownership and lucrative federal grants.
