Wild Horses Couldn't Drag Me Away: First Clip Of HBO's "Luck"

I always have mixed feelings about horse racing, but there’s no denying that there’s some compelling drama to be mined out of the sport/industry. And maybe I’m on an HBO kick after being so thoroughly thrilled by “Game Of Thrones,” but the below clip for the upcoming series, “Luck,” has me pretty intrigued. Give it a go:

Now, with all of that said, you could throw the names involved at me — Michael Mann, Dustin Hoffman, Joan Allen, Nick Nolte, Kerry Condon, and Kevin Dunn — and tell me it’s a show about a pottery class, and I’d still be sold on it. It’s just too interesting a combination of talent to ignore, regardless of the subject matter. Of course, to sweeten the pot, the show is written and co-produced by David Milch, who served as a writer for “NYPD Blue” and “Deadwood.” That’s a hell of a combo.

Count me in, it’s about time HBO got back to that gangsta shit. Fuck trying to be the Discovery channel, I want to see some ass, motherfuckers trying to get paid, and bitches cuttin’ each other. Did I see Dennis Farina in there somewhere?

Pookie: Have you not been watching Boardwalk Empire?

yeah, this looks promising and there's a heck of a lot of talent involved so definitely worth a look when it premieres.

it's nice to see what some hefty competition is doing for hbo.

I tried Tyler but it was a period piece, and I’m really not into period pieces. I’m more into that contemporary shit.

Also, if you watch carefully in the first two episodes, you'll see the handsome mug of that most elusive actor -- Brian Prisco.

Pookie: It picked up quickly, well worth watching if you like gangster stories.

Prisco: That's pretty sweet. Did you meet Hoffman or Nolte?

Fuck you Milch.

How do I know that I won't fall in love with this show right as you decide to move onto your next John?
