Hillbillies Are Just Misunderstood -- The Tucker and Dale Versus Evil Trailer / TK

Trailers | November 3, 2009 | Comments (20)

Holy shitballs does this look like fun.

So, here’s the roughcut trailer for Tucker and Dale Versus Evil. For once, someone has made a parody movie that actually looks good. The premise is fucking brilliant — using the stereotypes of movies like Wrong Turn, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and all the other “crazy, evil redneck” movies and completely spin them on their heads. The idea is that the rednecks are just misunderstood goofs who, through accident, sociological misunderstanding, and circumstance, lead a group of dimwitted college kids to think they’re hideous killers. If my description doesn’t sound appealing, just watch the damn trailer to understand.

Yeah. Unfortunately, the trailer shows way too much, but it looks like good, not-very-clean, clever fun. Also? Katrina Bowden (Cerie from 30 Rock), and Alan fucking Tudyk!

The film is currently trying to find a buyer, which baffles me. I mean, we get endless goddamn Wayans brothers parodies invading our multiplexes and shitting our souls to death. How is that justice?

Plus… Alan fucking Tudyk!

Nice twist on the theme, but I think I've seen the whole movie now.

Alan Fucking Tudyk AND Tyler Labine, who was by far the best part of Reaper. A better match I can't imagine.

I'm with BWeaves. I would have gladly paid to see this movie, but I believe they've given away the redneck cow's milk for free.

Man I miss Reaper.

At first, I kinda read the headline and I was all like "ehhhhhh...", and then I actually saw the trailer and my GOD this is just glorious. This like ordering a piece of cheesy cardboard from Dominoes and instead getting a fresh goat cheese pizza from Italy delivered by a naked Matthew Rush, along with a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a copy of Evil Dead II. FUCKIN' A.

This sounds awesome, I can't wait till it comes out.

OK, so was the "redneck with a scythe" is a grim reaper joke?

Black Dynamite, Zombieland and now this? I smell a trend and I love it.

Tyler Labine! I miss you Soc.

What a fantastic premise. I'll buy it.

Pajibus almighty, let's not talk about Reaper. It'll only lead to depression.

I was thinking about this last night while watching a preview for yet another horror reboot -- this culture needs some new stories. New mythologies, new heroes, new villians, and new monsters to scare the hell out of us instead of the same-old-same-old.
And this looked somewhat good until the kids pulled up into the house and I could hear someone (not me) squeeing, "OHMYGODTHEEVILDEADCABINSAMRAIMIPLEASERAPEMEORBUYMYSCRIPT!"
If only they hadn't used the same damn cabin.

Is this set in West by-God Virginia? Cause I'm there.

I mean, I'm THERE.

This trailer made me cackle like a fiend. Everyone in my office is eyeing me with suspicion now.

Posted by: androstarr at November 3, 2009 12:47 PM

I will watch the everliving fuck out of this.

I'm sold!

I can't see the trailer, but is it like Squidbillies? I'm a touch obsessed with that bullmess right now.

On a more serious note, the writers and voices are all actually southern people, so they skewer the stereotype and lovingly confirm it at the same time. And I love that.

Who cares!!! My boyfriend also agrees with me. He is 10 years older than me, lol. We met online at age-gap club -- http://AgelessMeet.COM/. Maybe you wanna check out or tell your friends.

@Jim Doggie
It's not the same cabin as Evil Dead, this was shot in Canada. Evil Dead's cabin is in Tennessee.
