Hey, does everyone remember Tron? That super awesome movie that had neon shit all over the place and crazy killer frisbees and the phrase “end of line,” which me and my geeky best friend use to this day to end our emails?

Well, did you see the sequel, Tron: Legacy? You did? Well, that was fucking stupid of you, because the sequel gnawed moldy rat balls. Seriously, it was quite pretty, but absolutely terrible. I felt bad. I wanted it to be good, especially since The Dude and Captain Sheridan were in it, and who doesn’t root for them? Fucking assholes, that’s who.

ANYWAY MY POINT IS. God, you people are jackasses. Wait, that’s not my point. My point is that the sequel was not good. However, Disney is determined to keep the concept alive, and they’ve developed “Tron: Uprising,” an animated series that will debut next year. In all honesty, an animated series might be the right medium for Tron — it allows the creators all of the wildly imaginative flexibility, but without the constraints of cinematic budgets. It’s aided by a pretty solid voice cast, including Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, (my stalker-crush) Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen and, of course, Bruce Boxleitner. Olivia Wilde is not in it, and if you’re wondering why I used her picture in the header, well, because why the fuck not. Stop asking stupid questions, you mouth-breathing reprobates.

Here’s the synopsis for the series:

Beck, a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron - the greatest warrior the Grid has ever known. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful leader. Destined to become the new protector of the system, Beck adopts Tron’s persona and becomes the archenemy of Tesler and his oppressive forces.

I haven't seen anything Tron to date. Trying to keep my streak alive of not watching terrible looking things.

Olivia-as-adorable-Quorra isn't in it? Fuck that.

I enjoyed Tron Legacy. Was this review written by a fucking 14 year old who forgot to to take his ADD pills?

So we're dropping all pretense now and saying that Tron and the Matrix are more or less the same thing?

Neo Beck, you are, the One New Tron!

Also, how hard did some pun writer have to work to sneak "Neutron" into the script here?

Well, you ain't Fiona Apple, and if you ain't Fiona Apple, I don't give a rat's ass.

I kind of love the whole Tron setting, even if a lot of it makes no sense, so I'm going to be all over this.

Tron: Legacy was a piece of useless, boring, pointless, annoying, badly scripted contrived bullshit. Within ten minutes I was bored, within a half hour I was pissed off.

I still love the visual style of Tron but god almighty guys GET SOMEONE WHO CAN WRITE A GODDAMN STORY PLEASE.

So it's...Batman Beyond, Tron style?

That's what I'm getting here.

Oh and for the record, I didn't hate "Legacy" as much as I was kinda dissapointed. I mean I've LITERALLY been waiting for a "Tron" sequel for years, and at the end of "Legacy" my first thought was "That's it?".

I hope good hopes for the animated series.

The concept art looks great, but the animation...holy crap is that generic.

Well, we all predicted that the (second) Clone Wars on Cartoon Network would suck donkey balls.
