Here’s the trailer for season 7 of HBO’s “Entourage,” wherein the trailer editors try to make a show about absolutely nothing look dramatic. Even condensing it down to a minute doesn’t manage to hype the drama much. However, in the final scene of the trailer — where Vince jumps a car over a small body of water — they should probably put a shark in it and move that scene back about four seasons. (But yes: I’ll still watch it. I can’t help myself.)
Here’s a very lackluster trailer for the second season of HBO’s “Bored to Death.” I watched the first season out of something akin to inertia. I didn’t really like it that much, but it kept showing up on my DVR and I kept pressing play. The only thing good about the show — which stars Jason Scwartzman and Zach Galifianakis — is Ted Danson, who is fantastic as the pot-smoking rich old white dude.
Finally, if you’re contemplating killing your HBO subscription after “True Blood” ends its run this summer because the above two shows don’t give you much to hope for, don’t forget that Game of Thrones debuts in 2011 and, in the interim, you will have Kenny Powers to keep you company. Here’s the second season teaser trailer for “Eastbound & Down,” an otherwise average show punctuated with enough moments of divine hilariousness to make the effort well worth it.
HBO is one of the few channels worth keeping through the year. There are enough good movies and original programming to keep it around. And don't forget Boardwalk Empire in September.
I cancelled HBO when the Sopranos ended and haven't missed it at all. It was so expensive for what we were actually watching. As long as you don't mind waiting a bit, you can just Netflix everything anyway.

Just curious but how much is HBO ? ( I live in the UK ).
Do you get one channel ? How does it work - find it confusing between cable, basic cable, premium etc.
cheers

My favorite scenes from the first season of Bored to Death involved Zach G and Ted Danson's dialogue. Those two were hilarious together.

We gave up HBO and the rest of the channels in whatever package Comcast was gouging us for and while we missed the idea of the extra channels, we didn't miss the programming itself; except for a weather channel that was free of the babbling idiots getting their panties in a excited twist at the prospect of bad weather while waiting for our "Local on the 8s". Man that shit is annoying.

Too expensive. Luckily the boyfriend bought a subscription for The Pacific, and since I made him watch True Blood season 1 this weekend he's now hooked on vampire porn and won't cancel it.

I think that, after a lull of a couple of years, HBO is making a strong comeback with its original programming. True Blood is reason enough to keep paying, but I also enjoy Bored to Death. And Kenny Powers is the MAN.
However, the less said about Entourage the better. Season 2 was the only time the show was really any good, and the last three seaons are embarrassingly bad.

It's 18 bucks for 8 channels on Dish in my area. Well 7 HD channels, 1 en enspanol, and one that is in standard definition that plays most of the reruns if you've missed them the 10 times they ran the first week.
The Ricky Gervais Show and The Life and Times of Tim were really good diversions.
Treme is pretty damn good.
True Blood is not especially remarkable, but it makes me feel about Anna Paquin the way the 'bettes creamm for Skarsgaard.
I do love the docs. Even though I didn't finish Smash His Camera, it was really good. The docs on witch children in Africa and John Cazale were really good. All in all HBO is worth it. But I'm also a CYE fanatic. What doesn't rate is the increase from roughly 50 to 100 dollars or more per month for all of the services after your new customer sheen has worn off.

I thought Entourage was supposed to be a comedy.

Shhh, listen up I could get in a lot of trouble for telling you all this. Learn to use the Usenet and for less than 10 dollars a month practically EVERYTHING media related is available to you, EVERYTHING. Bah! Subscriptions.

I loved Bored to Death. It was a slow burn but after a shaky first episode I was addicted to it. How can you not love Jason Schwartzman!? He's so teeny! And Ted Danson is amazing. I don't know, it's just a fun show.
I love Bored to Death, can't wait for it to be back. Having Jim Norton in the first few seconds of the trailer doesn't hurt, either.

Whoa whoa whoa, Entourage jumped the shark in Season 6 once Zac Efron did a meaningless cameo.

HBO cancelled 'Life & Times of Tim' so I cancelled HBO. Full stop.

Mine's 16.00 a month with 14 HD channels via Fios. Two of the HD ones are HBO Latino. All the channels we have in HD we also get in standard, but I never watch those.
I don't have any other premium channels because I don't find them worth it. I can catch Dexter on DVD, and long since gave up on Weeds. But with HBO I feel like I need to be able to watch at least True Blood every week, and I'm also looking forward to Boardwalk Empire.

We just canceled HBO on DirecTV - about $15/mo and going up soon. DirecTV had 7(?) HBO channels, and only 4 in HD. And the movie repeats - how many times before everyone on the planet has seen Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs multiple times? Started with HBO in the Soprano days, but the 18 month lag time between seasons for the new original stuff we liked (Treme, the most recent) - we'll look into alternatives.

You forgot option C)never having one at all and watching everything online.
