Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy Teaser Trailer: Look! They Put All Your Favorite Sexy British Dudes in ONE Film

Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Colin Firth are joined by Gary Oldman and CiarĂ¡n Hinds in Tomas Alfredson’s (the original Let the Right One In) adaptation of the John le CarrĂ© novel. It was a BBC series first (and the damn thing is still sitting on my DVD shelf in the shrink wrap). It might be difficult to pare this down to a regular-sized movie, but with this cast and this director, I’m betting it can be done. The teaser looks fantastic.

and John Hurt... his voice is that gravely, baritone that just oozes a kind of quiet menace

I was just wondering if I'm allowed to spoil this film because I read the book? No? But, but The Game of Thrones people did it all over the pl-fine. FINE. The high road blows.

Also, I love Simon McBurney's voice. Weasel personified.

Fuck yes! This will take the dirty off from when I go see The Three Musketeers.

Oh, and coverdinbees... I so feel your pain.

Posted by: Lemonhead at June 30, 2011 8:44 AM

This cast officially detonated the Affability Scale.

You do realize.....oh fuck it. I'm not even going to bother anymore. These posts are turning me into a lab rat going back to the shock button every time.

SPONTANEOUS ORGASM.

This book is on the counter, next in line when I finish GoT.

Loved the book. And it looks like they're keeping faithful to the tone.

Gary Oldman will never stop being bangable.

Posted by: Figgy at June 30, 2011 11:01 AM

holy shit that cast.

Posted by: lizzieborden at June 30, 2011 11:30 AM

10 bucks says Mark Strong is the bad guy... he is just SO good at it.

Posted by: MRod at June 30, 2011 11:57 AM

That is an ...unfortunate wig on poor Tom Hardy.

It's occuring to me that Bill Nigh needs to play Gary Oldman's father in something. Now.

Posted by: Nadine at June 30, 2011 12:21 PM

Nighy is only 10 years older than Oldman. It would make perfect sense if he were a woman since that's what Hollywood does but I can't see it happening to men.

Posted by: PaddyDog at June 30, 2011 12:35 PM

Coveredinbees - I love Simon McBurney too. He's the perfect sleaze. He was fantastic as the oily diplomat in The Last King of Scotland.

Posted by: Zirze at June 30, 2011 12:41 PM

I CAME.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Mark Strong should be in EVERYTHING EVER.

Posted by: Vi at June 30, 2011 1:03 PM

cumberbatch

and the others.
My sexy cup it runs over...

Possible SRL alert (if it hasn't already been done):
Like Sean Connery and Harrison Ford (11 years)? It doesn't happen as often, but it does. The most frequent is probably the close-in-age mother/son combos (like Winona Ryder and Zachary Quinto - 6 years), but mother/daughter combos are up there as well (Estelle Geatty and Bea Arthur - less than one year, Amy Poehler and Rachel McAdams - 5 years).

How would playing old (yet really not so old) father not be an automatic casting job for Robert Duval?

branded:

I forgot about Connery and Ford, probably because I try to avoid anything Sean Connery is in.

Posted by: PaddyDog at June 30, 2011 1:38 PM

Suck it Matt Reeves!

Na seriously, good on Alfredson and handsome Bob.

Posted by: googergieger at June 30, 2011 2:32 PM

Yes, Figgy, YES. Dammit, why does he not get lead roles any more?

Posted by: stardust at June 30, 2011 3:58 PM

Now, if they had only found a way to put Alan Rickman and/or Jeremy Irons in there...

I will definitely look forward to this, I love the le Carre novels. But every time I picture Smiley in my head, he's Alec Guinness.
