This Sh*t is Pajiba Kryptonite

This trailer for the new IFC film Victim starts off a little bit Captivity, and quickly veers in Multi-Segmented-Beast-That-Will-Not-Be-Named territory, so of course the Pajiban community will love it like one of our own. The trailer gives away the entire movie, but here’s the more mundane details. It’s written and directed and starred in by a whole group of unknowns, although one of the directors was also a producer on the kidnapping-with-a-twist movie Shuttle, which I adored.

Oh, I almost forgot. The movie poster was released with the trailer, and it’s disturbingly NSFW.

Holy F#c#ing S#it on a stick!

Talk about "Things that can't be un-seen."

Well, the rest of my day can't get any worse...
...I hope.

No. Nuh uh. Not watching. Never. Fuck that.
But really, what does this trailer say about the fears and prejudices of the filmmakers? You might be able to really read into this.
You might. Not me. I'm never clicking that again.

This is causing brain bleaching? This? It's any scientific revenge flick crossed with Polanski's The Tenant. Ain't no shame in twisting these two concepts together. The doctor's a bit on the campy side with the performance, but I think I can get behind this.

Victim will save the horror industry. Hack directors will watch this film and repent their hackful ways. The best and brightest horror stars will receive a massive increase in pay and the Academy Awards will recognize victims and tormentors with nominations every year. Victim is love and gumdrops and the dollop of whip cream on your pumpkin pie. All hail Victim, for it is good.

That was an experience of . . . some kind.

That would be "Re-Animator."

She's awfully prudish for a woman holding a severed head.

Posted by: Kballs at November 18, 2010 10:38 AM

That severed head is facing the wrong way.

Only Robert Scott and Vlad the Impaler have ever uttered that particular phrase with so much conviction.

Kryptonite, or catnip?

Posted by: Odnon. at November 18, 2010 10:50 AM

Kryptonite... I don't think that word means what you think it means...

And yeah, did they give away the entire movie in the trailer? Because if NOT, if there's more, then we might be on to something.

Probably better than Deadgirl.

Posted by: arrrghzi at November 18, 2010 11:09 AM

Well, that was...interesting.

That surgeon seemed like a poor man's Vincent Schiavelli.

I love it when it's the men being bound and tortured, takes me back to my dungeon days.

Christ, it's been a while.

Anyone here need a dom?

What is wrong with the world?

Posted by: Littlejon2001 at November 18, 2010 12:40 PM

Yawn.

Posted by: Ginger at November 18, 2010 1:35 PM

The surgeon's the dude from Christine, right?

It looks terrible, luckily the trailer is all you need to see.

Posted by: greeneyes at November 18, 2010 2:53 PM

Ok, he isn't. I did think "damn you look old!"

Posted by: greeneyes at November 18, 2010 2:55 PM

@arrrghzi: Outside of the films made by the dude who made RoboGeisha, Dead Girl is by far one of the most bizarre and disturbing movies I've ever seen. I still don't know what to make of it, or even if I regret seeing it. It's just... fucking weird.

And not very good.

I watch trailers like this and Zookeeper purely to hate them, as I imagine most of you do. Gotta say, after Human Centipede and Serbian Film, I was expecting a hell of a lot worse.

What was the big cringe moment, besides the concept as a whole? The scalpel scene was done incredibly well in Hard Candy, a film that achieved exactly what this film wishes it could achieve AND was actually a very good film. So even that part of the trailer didn't break my bored stare.

Just saw this On Video on demand. Very twisted flick! Interesting ending... poor Young Man does get it in a very ironic way.

A petition is being circulated by Change, org to get the movie taken off Comcast. People really need to lighten up. the movie is actually well done and isn't trying to go against TG individuals at all.
