They Made a Movie About That Guy You Know, and It Looks F*cking Brilliant

That guy. You know the one I’m talking about; you’re kinda friends — kinda not. You see him at work or school, and every single time, you wonder how he a) gets through life, and b) gets away with the shit he does. He shouldn’t be able to charm anybody, but he does. In reality, he’s the most idiotic asshole you know, yet somehow, he’s intriguing — the accident you can’t look away from? You shake your head at him a lot, and try to forget him, but every single time he busts into a room, you can’t help but be completely absorbed with observing his every move. And wtf, they made a movie about him.

Joel Potrykus (Ape) wrote, directed and co-stars in Buzzard, a black comedy with Joshua Burge, who plays that guy, Marty Jackitansky — an angry, paranoid slacker “working” as a temp. The film debuted at SXSW to rave reviews (it’s got 100% rating at Rotten Tomatoes), and once you get past the annoying quotes running over the beginning of its trailer, Burge sucks you right in.

You’re not sure why, but you want to watch, right? That’s brilliant.

Co-starring Jason Roth, Michael Cunningham and Michael Saunders, Buzzard hits theaters March 6th.

(If you’re me, you slept in a tent with that guy among forty other guys (a military tent, goddammit!) and watched slack-jawed while he peeled off his socks — and a layer of skin — to reveal trench foot. MRE cracker crumbs dropping from his mouth as he “What the fuck”-d, while the other guys recoiled in horror and asked when he last changed socks. “I don’t know, a few days ago?”)
