I Had A World Where I Still Had You, Oh I Wish I Was Crazy Again

Do I need to blather on about how much I love John Carpenter? Or did I sufficiently make my point with this post… and this one? So believe me when I say that if there was one thing that I want more than anything this year, one thing that would persuade me that there might actually be a kind and just being watching over us, something that wants balance in the universe, it would be a new mountain bike.

Um… second on the list would be to see a great John Carpenter flick.

Oh, and ending world peace and feeding the hungry would be pretty solid too. OK, you know what? I might have fucked up the order of those things. Shut UP, voices in my head.

Where was I?

Right. So here’s the trailer for Carpenter’s The Ward, which stars Amber Heard and Danielle Panabaker, about a girl who ends up in a mental institution where weird shit takes place. No, she doesn’t fight dragons and giant robot samurai… that’s the other girl in a crazyhouse flick coming out this hear. PAY ATTENTION.

Here’s the trailer:

OK, so it’s not a full trailer, but more the beginning of a trailer. I do not know why. The lads over at Slashfilm came across it via Bleeding Cool. Regardless, that 45 seconds or so doesn’t blow me away, and apparently the reception to the film’s UK screening this past weekend was pretty mixed. It also doesn’t actually have a US release date yet. These things bode ill for its future.

Balls.

Oh well. Still holding out for that bike, though.

You gotta start small, right?

Do men never lose their minds anymore? Cuz I know a few ladies who wouldn't mind at all if Hugh Jackman, Alexander Skarsgaard, and Jon Hamm all went looney together and had to share a public shower.

superasente, you've just recast that 'Sucker Punch' movie with an all-male cast in my head. I owe you many thanks.

The women-in-a-mental-ward movie is the new women-in-prison movie.

Gotta be a nympho in there with the pyro.

I approve.

superasante,

They had their chance with DiCaprio. If he didn't want to take a shower in "Shelter Island," that's not out fault.

For some reason, despite knowing better, every time I see Amber Heard's name, I picture the girl who played Amber on House. They don't look alike. They have nothing in common that I'm aware of other than the name Amber. But EVERY DAMNED TIME I picture her. And then I see the image of actual Amber Heard and remind myself, "self, you do this every time, and you are retarded."

Then I go drink some tea and eat a cookie till I feel better about myself again.

Amber Heard, go away.

superasente, I do not think I properly appreciated your brilliance until today.

Every time I hear or see Amber Heard's name I think of the whole John Heard/John Hurt/William Hurt confusion I've been afflicted with since childhood.

I loved 'Big Trouble in Little China' and 'The Thing'...

...but John Carpenter is an extremely inconsistent Director.

I've been burned too many times before.

'end' world peace?

Am I the only one who caught that? And oddly approves?

That might be the greatest Freudian slip/type-o in history. I'm actually proud of it. -TK

Didn't you just get a super fancy new road bike with an ultra-mega-super-balls-to-the-wall-I-just-lit-my-ass-on-fire-wheel-set? Damn, man. Leave something for the rest of us.

Jerk.

And the movie? Looks like something I left in the john.

You're kidding right? This is no contest. The other crazy girl movie has a DRAGON. And samurai. If it had pirates it would be perfect.

Seriously. It's like he tosses a coin before each movie.

Spot on with this write-up, I seriously think this page demands far more attention. I’ll probably be repeatedly to read much more, thank you for that information.
