The Stripper with the Heart of Gold Glitter

The thing about Kristen Stewart, at least, is that — aside from Twilight — she’s actually taken on some pretty solid roles, including Adventureland, The Yellow Handkerchief and Walter Salles’ upcoming adaptation of Keruoac’s On the Road. At least she wants to be taken seriously, though she always seems to have the same affectation. I like to call it mumble-wood.

All the same, Welcome to the Rileys looks solid. It stars James Gandolfini and the spectacular Melissa Leo, parents who lost a daughter. On a business trip, Gandolfini’s character meets a teenage stripper, and he attempts to save her, so to speak, which causes some emotional difficulties with his wife. Naturally. And it comes from director Jake Scott, son of Ridley. It looks, at the very least, like a great character movie for Leo and Gandolfini, and maybe Kristen Stewart can bring some attention to it.

Say, when is Kristen Stewart gonna appear in a kickass action film?

I mean, she has the look of a B-rated female action star, but she keeps appearing in those pussy Twilight films and dramas i don't give a shit about.

Start appearing in films that has explosions and guns Kristen. That's where the audience is. just ask Sigourney Weaver and Angelina Jolie about it.

I cant help it I like Kristen Stewart, plus I love a bit of jimmy Gandy 9I can call him that cos we are total BFF's) so I might see this on DVD.

I really respect Kristen Stewart's non-Twilight choices. I thought she was great in Adventureland. I would be interested to see her try something a little different though, because though she's good at those sullen roles, I can't tell if that's the only way she knows how to act or if those are just the characters and stories that she finds more interesting when she's choosing projects.

Poor Melissa Leo, someone is always dying on her.

Hmm. I say it definitely has possibilities. I do love me some independent films.

"She died in a car accident"

"That sucks"

"It does"

I died laughing at that point

This is the first movie with Kristin Stewart in it I've ever wanted to see.

I don't dislike Kristen Stewart, and I think she was horribly miscast for Twilight. That series really needed someone who looks more vapid and less continuously-pissed-off. I think it's her mouth, and how it's naturally (I think) set in this face :( so she just looks angry, plus the slightly jutting jaw doesn't help. I think that's a big part of why people don't like her or think she's unfriendly. But I sorta like her, and think she deserves better than that stupid franchise. This movie actually looks decent and I like I might dig her in it.

She's just a horrible fit for Twilight, though I can't blame her for taking the part.

So...uhhhh...yeah...I got nothing.

People should give her the benefit of a doubt and accept she might be serious about her work. The Twilight thing seems like a business choice to me, and a smart one for the both of them (her and mr. glitter himself). They're certainly getting lucrative paychecks out of it.

Gandolfini is an actor capable of incredible depth, so I'd probably watch this anyway, but I'm interested in seeing how Stewart does with it.

That actually looks pretty amazing.
James Gandolfini could make me see just about anything though....he's awesome. This movie looks fantastic.

Gandolfini's accent comes dangerously close to James "Ah! Dont want! Yoor lahf!" van der Beek.

I want to like Kristen Stewart.
It seems like outside of Twishite she can actually act.

But...I just cant bring myself to like her
