Psychobot!

Apparently reboots aren’t just an American thing. There’s an old Thai super hero franchise called The Red Eagle which is now getting a reboot. It’s only being released in Asia so far, but with Hollywood releasing a feature for every hand sketched character who ever was in the same room with spandex, there’s a greater than average shot we might see at least a DVD release state side. The official plot synopsis is adequately cheesy:

A nuclear power plant is about to be commissioned upon the signing of corrupt and power hungry politicians. The citizens are in frenzy, as they oppose this plan but they cannot do a thing about it. And so, a hero was born, chasing down the criminals and the corrupt, killing of whatever threatens the city’s well being. He leaves a card with his name simply as “THE RED EAGLE”. However, the hero becomes the hunted, when the politicians send out their best defense, known as “THE BLACK DEMON”.

Yeah, it’s like Batman without the nuanced moral compass. Or the Punisher with a snazzy mask. But what really makes the trailer stand out are two ideas that need some sort of Academy Award recognition. First, there’s the inexplicable switching to X-ray vision to appreciate the exact path a sword takes through the body. Second, there’s the greatest mistranslated (or not?) insult of all time: “psychobot!”

As Thai citizen, wicked evil would be more accurate translation. But you are right, psychobot is way more awesome.

That's one really snazzy mask, though.

The screaming-on-your-motorcycle-while-everything-behind-you-explodes bit at the end was thumbsuppable.
