How beautiful! I can't wait to see this and I'll actually go to a theater--it would be a waste to watch this for the first time at home.

New Pixar, check. Freaking gorgeous, check. FEMALE FUCKING HEROINE, check. I am in love with it already.

Raggedy Anne with a bow and arrow?

Posted by: logan at June 27, 2011 2:19 PM

Holy hell, whose delightful accent is that? (Robbie Coltrane??)

It's on my list. Very much. We still don't know what exactly it is about, except Scottish accents and her hair and shooting bears with bow and arrow and being the child your parents never wanted to have - or did want to have, but of the other gender - , but apart from that... It's on my list.

Posted by: Rooks at June 27, 2011 2:23 PM

Rooks, I'm guessing either Kevin McKidd or Craig Ferguson, and I'm definitely leaning McKidd.

Posted by: D-Day at June 27, 2011 2:28 PM

Rooks,
It's McKidd. He tweeted it to his followers.

Posted by: khia213 at June 27, 2011 2:46 PM

D-Day, you think so? I think neither of them has a deep enough voice for that short "carried in the winnnd"-bit. Judging by the youtube videos available, that is. I'm not very familiar with their original voices, because I happen to live in a sorry little country where every fucking thing is synchronized. (Not synchronized badly, but imagine this movie without the Scottish accent. Imagine "Australia" without the accent. Imagine every movie without the little word puns. Yeah. It's a bit miserable.)

Posted by: Rooks at June 27, 2011 2:49 PM

Okay, McKidd then. I'll shut up about it. Thanks, khia.

Posted by: Rooks at June 27, 2011 2:50 PM

AHHH this looks AMAZING. Seriously, we have to wait a WHOLE YEAR!? No fair.

Posted by: grace b at June 27, 2011 2:54 PM

Hells yes. Bring it on!

Posted by: foolsage at June 27, 2011 2:56 PM

::shakes fist::

WORK BLOCKER!

And now a Woody Allen quote -

I began to rage impotently, but the back of my thigh tightened and I was forced to sit ... I tried raging impotently again, and this time brought it off, but mine is a quiet neighbourhood, and several minutes later two redneck spokesmen for the Nineteenth Precinct dropped by to inform me that raging impotently could mean a $500 fine and 6 months imprisonment, or both.

What exactly is so exciting about that trailer?

Posted by: Grafty at June 27, 2011 3:34 PM

Hmmm, so Cars2 is bad, right? But ah, Pixie McRiding Hood here murdering a bear, also by Pixar, is good.

Got it...I think.

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at June 27, 2011 3:37 PM

Oh, my, the gorgeous accent! It does sound a lot like Craig Ferguson, but in my heart, I'm hoping it's the voice of some Raoul Bova lookalike---an undiscovered hottie with the soul of Shelley (like Julian Sands in Ken Russell's Gothic). Yum.

At the risk of sounding old school (yeah, I'm not 20, sue me!), the scenery reminded me of the ViewMaster reels my older brother and I shared when we were kids. The backgrounds were SO lush. We used to strap the VM on our heads and try and walk around, as if we were in the story. (For you young'uns, this was the precursor to virtual reality; back in the day, we had to WORK for our thrills.)

This trailer brings me back to those magical, secret days, living in the VM. I will definitely be queuing up for Brave's opening night.

Just showed the trailer to my two boys (8 & 9) and they were down with seeing it. So glad that I'm raising boys that want to see a cartoon with a girl hero, what a relief.

Posted by: Melody Be at June 27, 2011 4:16 PM

I hope the soundtrack is good.

Posted by: Aislinn at June 27, 2011 4:16 PM

Oh, Sir BSlim (and I address you with the utmost reverence), you know this is all just good (somewhat) clean fun.

There is a place in the world for Cars 2 (it's been well-established all over Pajiba that it's performing a valuable service in oh-so-many ways), but some movies are loved more than others, and that is the right of the amateur---meant in the Greek sense, of course-- to proclaim.

If it makes you feel any better, Mr. Stinky and the little boy Stinkies loved Cars 2, and I don't begrudge them that for one minute. (Although I do consider myself the TasteMeisteress in the family, I am fully cognizant of the fact that, hey, I'm just a sentimental sap.) But, what's equally important, is that the little boy Stinkies are psyched (after viewing trailer) about seeing Brave. This, I think/hope, represents evolution in our species. (Certainly among the Stinky clan.)

I love this. But the little four year old blue-eyed redhead in my life will be SIX by the time she see this. I don't even know if I want to show it to her.

I'm totally gonna show it to her. She's gonna DIE.

Posted by: AmbroseKalifornia at June 27, 2011 6:07 PM

Now I've got amateur greek movies on my brain.

Posted by: LwoodPDowd at June 27, 2011 6:40 PM

Kevin McKidd - Lord MacGuffin

MacGuffin? Seriously?

Also, Princess Merida? They can't all have been royalty in prehistory.

Posted by: Ballymena Bob at June 27, 2011 7:04 PM

Maybe I'm just being cynical but I don't get all the thrashw**k over this teaser. Pretty generic, but cos it has pixar on it, it's amazing..

Posted by: Sage at June 27, 2011 7:25 PM

Is it just me or does the heroine look like Stella from the Marie Louise Gay Stella and Sam books?

Posted by: Mrs. Julien at June 27, 2011 7:25 PM

Breathtaking. Her hair looks BETTER than real.

Posted by: Figgy at June 27, 2011 9:16 PM

Rooks,
It's McKidd. He tweeted it to his followers.

Posted by: khia213 at June 27, 2011 2:46 PM

But Coltrane is also in it, not to mention Craig Ferguson, Billy Connolly, and Kelly Macdonald, a damn good showing for ye olde Glasgow.

Posted by: Uriah Creep at June 27, 2011 9:30 PM

Until I saw horse and rider both, it looked like live-action. Christ.

Posted by: Shadowen at June 27, 2011 10:33 PM

This could surpass WALL-E as my all time Pixar movie.

Posted by: James at June 28, 2011 2:45 AM

This could surpass WALL-E as your all time Pixar movie? Based on some girl shooting an arrow at some bear?

Help me out here. What the hell is it you're all so excited about?

Posted by: Grafty at June 28, 2011 5:12 AM

Wow. The animation is pretty incredible.

Posted by: Camytaru at June 28, 2011 9:53 AM

Was something exciting supposed to happen?

Posted by: Jay at June 28, 2011 10:31 AM

I saw this and immediately thought...FIRE EMBLEM!
