Death by Car Wash!

Screw Terminator Salvation, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Angels and Demons, Wolverine and the rest of this summer’s tepid offerings. The movie I can’t wait to see? Final Destination 4. It’s in 3D, y’all, which is exactly how one should view a teenager get killed in a car wash.

In 3D!

And here’s the trailer, and allow me to say: It’s everything I could ever hope for in a Final Destination movie, which is to say: It’s got an abundance of dead teenagers. Death returns! And he’s gonna cave your chest in with a rock shot out of a lawn mower.

Happy Thursday, y’all. After a week like this, you deserve two minutes of guilty pleasaure:

i say this without the slightest inkling of irony:

I. Can't. Wait.

Hey y'all, do y'all think Dustin talks like that in real life? Y'all are crazy if you say yes.

I think these movies should have choose your own adventure type twists. I love watching teens get killed in absurd ways as much as the next guy, but getting to vote on a little "who wants to be a millionaire"-esque remote as to how this certain teen is going to die would make me super excited.

It'd totally be worth a minute long pause in one of these movies to vote on whether Ali Larter gets stabbed in the throat by a windshield wiper or gets eaten by a swarm of rogue fire ants.

is it too early to line up for tickets?

Posted by: gp at June 4, 2009 7:37 PM

That looks unbearably awesome. Happy, happy day!

My experience says that for the most part Dustin doesn't speak, he sings his emotions borrowing the words of Neil Diamond.

I was about to have a what the fuck moment if you were actually looking forward to this, which you just might. I on the other hand think every single one of these films was a waste of money and a moment of my life gone that I can never have back. That being said...

The escalator death scene looked fantastic...

I thoroughly enjoy these movies. The Rube Goldberg-esque ways to die are just so interesting and drawn out - it's like the comic relief in a Shakespeare play that gets you distracted so the action that follows is that much more devastating.

That's right, I just compared the Final Destination movies to Shakespeare.

I will be there. With 3-D glasses on.

Oh great, "video removed." Fuck you very much.

I've never gotten around to seeing ANY of the FD movies. Don't know why. Plus I don't want to ruin my image of Death as seen in the Pratchettverse.

Oh yeah, and I'm an unabashed wuss!

Posted by: Four Eyes at June 5, 2009 12:30 AM

Guess I DO know why I blanked those movies.

Posted by: Four Eyes at June 5, 2009 12:31 AM

is that a good film? i want to see...

It looks great. I haven't watched a film in 3-D yet ever. It would be good if this is my first though the cinemas I usually go to don't have 3-D unfortunately. It's a bit out of the way to watch 3-D but whether 3 or 2, I'm pretty sure it will be awesome anyway.

Posted by: barf at June 5, 2009 5:22 AM

ooooooooooooooooooo yes yes yes!!!!

Posted by: missh at June 5, 2009 8:28 AM

i'm with you four eyes-i've never seen these films either. i love suspense, thrillers, and action flicks, but gory horror? i just don't have the stomach. my vomit's in 3d too.

Posted by: gem at June 5, 2009 9:02 AM

Oh. HELL! Yes! I just watched FD 1-3 for some (filmed in BC) relaxation and now death in 3D? If they all die I'll even pay to see it!

I believe the first Final Destination and Idle Hands to be the only movies Devon Sawa ever produced that are worth watching. I enjoy the shit out of those movies in a completely unironic way and I'm completely pumped for this one.

I want to go to there.

Posted by: patronsaint at June 6, 2009 3:57 AM

"2D in selected theatres". What bullshit promotion is this? Fuck, I hate marketing people. The film looks like a guilty enjoyment kind of one though.

Posted by: OL at June 6, 2009 2:49 PM

I remember seeing a trailer for this when I saw The Hangover and could not contain myself it was simply hysterical. A Car wash? A pool? Random objects chucked at kid's faces? Can this movie come out and sooner perhaps?
Then with Mr. Pool Guy, flashbacks of "Guts" by Chuck Palahniuk came to mind and I gigglesnorted.
