The Farrelly Brothers Return with Hall Pass

The answer is: Probably not. The cast of Hall Pass by itself should elevate above Heartbreak Kid. It looks amiably amusing, decent cable fare if you’ve somehow exhausted every other decent available option. It stars Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis, as well as Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate (and Alyssa Milano), and the five of them are likable enough to save whatever is left in the dregs of the Farrelly tank. The premise is doltish: A couple of sex-obsessed married suburban men receive a hall pass — freedom away from their marriage for a week to do whatever they’d like. Undeniably, they will realize how much they love their spouses, and return to their respective wives nookie-free.
