One of the most talked about movies of the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival was not an ambitious epic or earnest Oscar bait, but a willfully crude coming-of-age comedy about an angry asshole of a girl. And gang, we’re in love with The Edge of Seventeen

Kelly Fremon Craig’s original comedy hooked us from its first trailer. Our own Rebecca Pahle praised The Edge of Seventeen for its adolescent asshole authenticity, writing:

Fremon Craig has crafted a completely authentic, three-dimensional teenage character. With her cynicism and disdain for other people, Nadine’s like Daria Lite, if more prone to fits of drama. She’s narcissistic and a little mean. I may have rolled my eyes at Nadine proclaiming “I am an old soul. I like old music and old movies and even old people!,” except that shit is exactly the sort of thing I would have said when I was her age.

In the wake of TIFF, The Edge of Seventeen has a new red-band trailer dripping in NSFW jokes and exuberant praise.

The Edge of Seventeen hits theaters November 18th.
