The Cutest Woman of 1999 Resurfaces

In 1999, if you’d asked me to name the cutest woman alive (the pre-Felicia Day, if you will), I’d have probably nominated Sabrina Lloyd, in large part because of the white-men’s button down episode of “Sports Night,” the episode where Aaron Sorkin got deep into the recesses of every male fantasy and properly identified the outfit more alluring than any lingerie. It was that men’s white button down, as I recall, that brought Jeremy and Natalie back together.

I haven’t seen Lloyd since her stint on “Ed” some seven years ago (she also had a lengthy arc on “Numb3rs”), so it’s good to see her in the very whimsiquirkilicious trailer for Hello Lonesome from the virtually unknown writer/director Adam Reid. I don’t know much about the flick, except that it’s being screened at the LA Film Festival (if you’re out there, you can catch up tomorrow and Wednesday nights). Hopefully, it’ll make it around to your town in the not-to-distant future.

That whole episode is perfection.

SHOE MONEY TO-NIGHT!

She was Wade Welles on Sliders! Which...ended a long time ago also, and she didn't make it to the end. But still, that's where I know her from.

I used to have such a crush on her in sliders. Adorable.

The "Six Meetings Before Lunch" episode of The West Wing (another Sorkin show) where she argues with Rob Lowe about education policy for the whole episode.

Adorable.

I meant extended education policy debates, but the girl is cute, too.

My love for Sabrina Lloyd knows very few bounds. And she can bring the Sorkinese dialogue in a way that combined with her lack of height and short dark hair reminds me of my first girlfriend in high school. I watch very few movies in theaters, but if this one eventually opens in wide release I will see it.

I thought that was Audrey Tautou in the photo. Alas.

Did they do one for the brothas too?

Wasn't that Mallory he was arguing with? If so, that wasn't Lloyd. I don't think she was in The West Wing.

Aw, I've had her on my mind since Brad Henke showed up on Lost. I will watch this.

There was actually also an episode of Sliders that starred both her and Joshua Molina (Jeremy in SportNight): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0702762/

Why do I know this? Because I've gone back and rewatched the first four seasons of the show in the past year. If you are wondering how it holds up since the 90s... The first four seasons are terrible. The fifth season is terrible on a whole other level. I couldn't manage to watch the fifth season when it aired or on recap.

I don't know what Sliders is, but I sure admire your perseverance, slagzoo.

It was Mallory, and she wasn't Sabrina Lloyd. How do I know? I have most of that episode (and that season, and that show, and Sports Night, for that matter) memorized. You should hear me do Sam's "Education is the Silver Bullet" speech.

I'm a Sorkin Junkie. Hardcore. Like, you might think you're a Sorkin Fan, but I can pretty much guarantee you that you're the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue to my Jeremy Feist.

Oh yeah. Prior to my Alyson Hannigan-obsession phase, I used to have huge alternating crushes on Sabrina and Maura Tierney.

Sabrina's had a few great moments in recent years, primarily thanks to Hal Hartley. 'Sisters Of Mercy' (co-starring with the also too-cute-to-be-real Parker Posey) and'Girl From Monday' are both available on DVD and well worth getting, if only for the eye-candy value.

Oh, this looks good. Please let it BE good. I did like her so much in Sports Night - I loved that character.

whimsiquirkilicious™

Fixed that for you. You really need to protect your intellectual property better.

And yeah, I'm somewhat unfamiliar with this Sabrina Lloyd person, but I also thought that picture was Audrey Tatou, so she's already got some positive juju in my mind, plus the white button-down is the sexiest thing ever.

Oh.

Ohhhh...

Oh my goodness.

She was so adorable in Sliders. I kinda figured that show will no longer hold the appeal it did for me when I was but a wee lass, so I haven't tried to revisit it even though Netflix keeps recommending it.

How could I have forgotten that I had the biggest crush on Sabrina Lloyd?! She kick-started my whole twee-ipster/beautifully understated/alterna-cutie phase that ended up being not just being a phase.

I'm clearly in the minority here but this came off as more like a hipsterquirktentious disaster than anything else.

Irving, I fully anticipate that the two stories not involving Sabrina will fully suck, and provide me with a chance to go find a bathroom mid-movie. But I like Sabrina enough that I will watch a movie that has her in and then hopefully out of a wedding dress and take my chances with the rest of the thing.

she was the best part of sliders! i watched the entire series on netflix recently and got pissed all over again when she was replaced by the skank (well, actually i think she was replaced by the ugly brother technically since she was in season 3 with said skank).
anyways
doesn't look like a $12 night at the movies, but it does look like a redbox night.
