Felicia Day: Werewolf Killer

Oh, how I want to love this. I mean, how could you not? Felicia Day, who is lovely and funny and a geek queen, starring in a movie about a family of werewolves? What’s not to love? And it’s showing on SyFy, who brought us “Battlestar Galactica” and “Eureka!” Plus, it’s written by Brook Durham, who wrote… um… Witchslayer and Merlin and the Book of Beasts. And… uh… it’s directed by Sheldon Wilson, who also did… Carny and… Screamers: The Hunting. And…

Shit.

This is gonna be a wreck, isn’t it.

Yeah, that doesn’t look so good. Not terrible werewolf effects, I’ll give it that, but still… not exactly inspiring. Look, I love SyFy movies. I’m not being ironic — I genuinely enjoy them, and have seen — literally — almost all of them. Yes, they’re terrible, stupid, atrociously acted and feature hideous special effects. That’s what’s so glorious about them. They’re full of has-been and never-were actors, and that’s the problem. I don’t think any of us want Ms. Day to be either of those.

Oh, Felicia. You deserve better.

Sorry, I'm busy focusing on the header pic.

While I appreciate the seeming genius of casting Felicia Day as a po-mo Little Red Riding Hood Hunting Werewolves (Day with a gun is just rad-hotness to the 10th power), this honestly seems like Red could've been played by anybody, and really doesn't even need to be a Little Red Riding Hood update. Chick with guns shoots werewolves, that's it? Really? If you're gonna cast Felicia Day, do it right, let's get a litte bit creative. Something along the lines of the Tin Man mini-series (at least the first half) would be better than this.

My love is interfering with my good taste. I don't know how to deal with this.
I haven't been this confused since JGL was in GI Joe.
What the fuck do I do?

Felicia, if you're reading this, we all love you.
Don't throw it all away. Please?

She blinded me with Library Science.

Felicia Day, while a geek queen and a member of my personal List, doesn't exactly have a career that let's her be particularly picky if she wants to work. Why that is is beyond me - she's beautiful and talented. She should be headlining big time movies, not having to do things like this. But I can't blame her. Work is work, and anything that gives you a chance to perform and make some money (though admittedly it can't be much...I don't imagine SyFy films pay all that well) is a good thing, right?

SyFy Wizard of Oz knock-off Tin Man starred the more popular Ms. Deschanel and didn't seem to hurt her career. Ms. Day will live to see another.

Why was I was expecting Gary Oldman to twirl out in all his purple velvetness?

I really want to like Felicia Day, but she did seem to have a problem getting the words out, didn't she? I'll blame that on the script writer, shall I?

Posted by: BWeaves at August 3, 2010 11:43 AM

how many times does she get shot in the trailer?

Posted by: shawnp at August 3, 2010 11:44 AM

It looks better than 'BloodRayne', so she's definitely in the upper echelon of Syfy Saturday Night features. :)

Plus, the guy from Stargate Atlantis and other bit tv rolls does okay in most roles. I'm in.

TK, I actually like Syfy movies too.

Those werewolves are obviously muppets.

That being said, I would split her like wet pine.

I will be sure to pass along any thoughts and well wishes you may have for Ms. Day, as we shall be both in Indianapolis over the weekend.

Hubba hubba.

I adore Felicia Day. But I want to see her being funny, and quirky and geeky. This... sorry.

What really bothers me about this is the severe underbite they give these werewolves. Practically speaking, this will limit their effectiveness as predators, and it completely throws out the movie's credibility. Also, I would screw Felicia Day like a cheap Ikea bookshelf.

Logar: "Also, I would screw Felicia Day like a cheap Ikea bookshelf."

Aren't those the kind where the holes don't line up with the screws?

Posted by: BWeaves at August 3, 2010 1:23 PM

I still dont even know who Felicia Day is, if I'm being totally honest with you all

I am a big fan of Felicia, and also redheads. Does anyone know where I can get a high res of the banner pic? I am feeling an overwhelming urge to check out a book.

Granny's got a gun!
K, really, Red looked way hotter in Dollhouse

BWeaves:
Liberal application of alcohol helps the screwing process, regardless of where the hole is, but one needs to be careful not to degrade the rigidity of the screw.

Did I mention that I love redheads? Oh, OK.

Hey, Ms. Day needs to eat too. Sure, she deserves better, but actors want credits. And ducats. And as noted, Zooey "yeah I'm overrated but I made it onto the Bangables list anyway so fuck you" Deschanel was in Tin Man, and she's doing all right.

I also love SyFy movies in all their badness. I saw the Mothman Prophecy rip-off one starring Jewel Staite, and it only diminished her lustre a tiny bit in my eyes. But then I saw Serenity on SyFy this weekend, and her lustre was fully restored.

I want the header pick as a wallpaper gimme gimme gimme.

Posted by: clancys_daddy at August 3, 2010 8:12 PM

Looks stupid as hell.

I can't wait to see it.

Considering the kind of geek goddess Felicia is, she is probably giddy at the idea of being in a corny SyFy movie, if only for the chance to say she was in one. Plus, she gets to shoot people.

Which makes her even hotter.

Summer's probably a better example than Zooey. MAMMOTH was, well, clearly a lot worse movie than TIN MAN, but Summer still got to be the hottest Terminator ever.
