Searching for Ben Linus

In just a few short months, “Lost” returns to the airwaves for its final season (starting February 2nd, to be exact). I think most folks will agree that last season was strong, perhaps the best season since its first, and so there’s quite a bit of anticipation for this sixth season. Not just because we’re hoping for a good season of what’s generally been a very good show, but because we want a satisfying conclusion to the whole series. Dunno if it will live up to hopes and expectations, but I will say that I dig the hell out of this Spanish-language promo and it’s got me chomping at the bit:

Lost is a phenomenal show, and I hope the conclusions good.

Posted by: George at November 30, 2009 5:33 PM

Love that voice! I believe that's the gentleman who also narrated the beginning of Pan's Labyrinth.

Posted by: Jarsh at November 30, 2009 5:34 PM

excellent song choice on "Everything in its Right Place." What a cool trailer.

Posted by: kyle at November 30, 2009 5:38 PM

Ohhhhhh I cannot even begin to say how motherfuckin' excited I am for this.

Posted by: ashes at November 30, 2009 5:39 PM

Champing. Hate to be the grammar bitch, though. But if there were a grammar bitch superhero, what would she wear?

Posted by: patchfire at November 30, 2009 5:45 PM

Red and black costume. Giant Red X on the chest.

She'd be a villain. Total bitch.

Like you.
*drops everything and throws hands in the air*

As resident Equestrienne I will give a ruling on the field:

Champing.

Weeow. +5,000 points for using Radiohead in the ad.

Feb. 2 can't come fast enough.

Posted by: MelBivDevoe at November 30, 2009 6:26 PM

Holy crap! I just realized the other "god" character (not Jacob) is the guy that plays Jimmy on Sons of Anarchy. Nice. Fittingly, LOST (and 24) are the only thing that will get me through the winter post Sons of Anarchy. My God this season has been stunning.

Posted by: TylerDFC at November 30, 2009 6:38 PM

Cant. Think. Right. From. The. Awesome...

Wow, just wow.

Posted by: Sostra at November 30, 2009 6:40 PM

I am very much looking forward to season 6, but I seem to be one of the few who thinks that season 5 was the weakest of the bunch.

Posted by: DarthCorleone at November 30, 2009 6:49 PM

I haven't seen season 5 yet, but I doubt it can be worse than season 2.

Posted by: Scully at November 30, 2009 7:14 PM

I watched it twice. SO good.

I am more excited about LOST than I am about my Christmas presents.

Posted by: Jerce at November 30, 2009 7:20 PM

Wheeeeeee! Yes, I'm so excited that I have nothing besides "Wheeeeeeeeeeee!"

Posted by: Nicole at November 30, 2009 8:00 PM

Well ain't that interesting. So, all that speculating about Jacob, the man in black and Alpert possibly being gods may be true. I'm not as dumb as I look!

What's really forked up is that we get less information than other countries.

Season 5 was great, but I can see why some people wouldn't like it. It's very different in tone than the earlier seasons.

Season 2 has its weak spots (What Kate Did, Fire and Water), but I recently rewatched it and it holds up better than I remember.

Posted by: Daniel Hall at November 30, 2009 8:52 PM

Season 5 was OK...i did not like the finale much and I'm hoping Abrams and friends don't heap on the metaphysical shit too much and consequently lose track of the story. Season 4 was the best in my book...Season 3 the weakest.

Posted by: stryker1121 at November 30, 2009 9:22 PM

Once again this proves that Ben is good... well o.k. it doesn't prove it, but I still believe it... what does good mean though in the life span of the gods!

Posted by: El L Cool J at November 30, 2009 10:33 PM

fuck me, that was cool. I usually hate Spanish accents but DANG that was effective. And as someone pointed out up there, I'm pretty sure that's the narrator from Pan's Labyrinth. Love him.

Season 2 has its weak spots (What Kate Did, Fire and Water), but I recently rewatched it and it holds up better than I remember.

The absence of week-long waits between episodes really helps.

Posted by: wrion at November 30, 2009 11:06 PM

wrion:

You're right, watching it on DVD at your own pace REALLY helps S2.

And in the broader context of the series, it becomes something of an Empire Strikes Back-esque "dark second chapter", rather than the disappointment a lot of people seem to feel it is.

Posted by: Daniel Hall at November 30, 2009 11:22 PM

fantastic commercial.
i had never seen 'lost'. then a few months ago, i watched the whole thing on netflix--starting from show #1 and then season five on abc.com and i-tunes. it felt a lot like reading a book, where i would tell myself..."just one more episode=just one more page".... and would end up watching for hours on end.
i couldn't even imagine having to watch it during those beginning years, with commerical, reruns, the writer's strike, summer breaks, etc... that would have made me crazy.
watching it for the first time ever and all in a row, was one of my most satifying tv/film/visual/cognitive/emotional experiences in my life.
and now getting to watch the finale as it unfolds along with the rest of world...awesome.
so excited!

Just got home from work and was finally able to watch that trailer.

Damn.

Lost+Radiohead=Perfection

Posted by: Flo at December 1, 2009 9:50 AM

I was a rabid fan of Lost, but it's been a while since the last season ended, and i find i feel fatigued at trying to remember what the hell was going on in the story

and i feel pretty skeptical about the myriad of threads started over the years actually being sorted into a coherant resolution.

Posted by: idleprimate at December 1, 2009 3:29 PM

that was beautiful. although i can't wait for season 6 to start, i'm still a bummed that this is the final season. i need to get a life.

Posted by: pq at December 1, 2009 3:44 PM

I fucking love that promo. Can't wait for season six. I will surely wet myself!

Posted by: Hannah at December 1, 2009 5:05 PM

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in other words, I am quite excited about the return of this well-written and well-performed television drama.
