The Tribeca Film Festival is in full swing and Last Night is one of the entries with a couple of big names…and lots of pretty:

Keira Knightley and Sam Worthington play a Manhattan married couple, apart from each other for one night and each tempted by an attractive outsider. Eva Mendes and French actor Guillaume Canet (who I initially thought was Patrick Dempsey with a bad accent) play the enticing potential bedmates. Though it seems like a simple tale of a married couple tempted to stray, I’ve read a couple of reviews that intimate the film is more than the sum of this trailer, which has the requisite pensive feel and moody piano. I’m not a huge Keira Knightley fan, but she is a standout in the clip and she’s receiving great reviews for her performance. Plucky little accent!

Why do we watch films like this? Are the married among us living vicariously or do we need/hope for reminders of the consequences of cheating? Hell if I know, but I do watch them.

Last Night is directed by Massy Tadjedin (The Jacket) and also stars Griffin Dunne and Daniel Eric Gold. It’s available On Demand and will hit theaters in limited release May 6, 2011.

The idea of a guy who's married to Keira Knightley and gets tempted by Eva Mendes really speaks to me.

I'm getting the impression that the wife cheats but the husband doesn't.

Guillaume Canet is HOT.

So, so pretty.

Him and Keira Knightly? It's almost too much.

Not obscure in my world Amanda :)

I saw this! Keira and Guillaume were excellent. They had CRAZY chemistry.

The other two...not so much.

Why do these "cheating" couples have to live in Manhattan? Why can't they be from some other place, such as Boise, Idaho?

I can't speak for the film, but I read this script a few years back. It was pretty good. I thought it felt a little like Closer-light, but it's not trying to be nearly that cynical or talky, so it works. Still, for my personal taste, I would have liked it to be a little weightier.

Eh. I'll stick with the other Last Night, the one with Sandra Oh. Now there is some good film, y'all.

I thought Canet was Noah Wyle at first.

I had to stare at the photo next to Keira's for about 1 whole minute before I recognized who it was. Granted I haven't had my coffee yet, but I don't think I could've done much better if I had. Dude's got one giant BLANK for a face.

Just saw this: loved it. LOVED IT. A bit underwhelmed/annoyed by the ending, but the journey was excellent. I know there isn't a ton of love for Ms.Knightley on this site, but I adore her and thought she was magnificent in this film.
The film felt shockingly realistic- without getting too biographical here, I have been in the position of one of the characters and I assure you it's a confusing, horrible, exciting thing to be a part of and the film gets it exactly right.
