OK, so this is a film that doesn’t have a friggin’ chance in hell of ever seeing the inside of a multiplex. That’s cool. If there’s one thing this job has taught me, other than you people are freaks and reprobates, it’s that there are plenty of downright excellent movies that come straight to Netflix or DVD. And I’ll admit that while the title is goofy as all get-out, the acting is kooky, and the budget appears to be the product of a change jar, Some Guy Who Kills People still looks like it’s got potential.

It’s clever. It’s clearly tongue-in-cheek, with a wickedly bloody sense of humor. It’s directed by Jack Perez, who directed Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus. It stars Lucy Davis (Shaun Of The Dead), Barry Bostwick(!), Karen Black (!!!), and most importantly, Kevin Corrigan. Corrigan has been floating around for years now, a classic that guy, who’s never given enough of a role to rise to his potential. He was fantastic in the uber-creepy and depressing Big Fan with Patton Oswalt, and he’s had recurring roles on shows like “Fringe” and “Damages.” Frankly, he’s reason enough for me.

Anyway, here’s the trailer. It’s about a man who snaps. I’m all for snapping.

Oh, and the poster is phenomenal:

How great was Corrigan in that episode of Community. He fit right in. After that I kept hoping that they would add him as a regular...

So Barry Bostwick isn't dead then?

Posted by: Pookie at February 10, 2011 8:39 AM

I remember Corrigan most from when he played Donal Logue's brother in "Grounded for Life."
Crazy dude.
This looks like a metric shit-ton of fun.
Plus, Lucy Davis. Hell yeah.

I want to see that. I love Corrigan, he hasn't gotten the attention he deserves.

Is there a shortage of cheerful psychopaths in movies?

Posted by: The Wanderer at February 10, 2011 9:02 AM

I wouldn't call him 'cheerful'...

I'm surprised no one mentioned his small but flawless role in The Departed.

Sorry, The Depawted.

Check out Kevin Corrigan is Dan Bejar in the new New Pornographers video for "Moves".

He was great in The Departed! And I also just realized the other day that he played Goon/Rocky in Buffalo '66.

He was also Henry Hill's wheelchair bound brother in Goodfellas but Grounded For Life is what I always think of when I see him.

As the writer and producer of "Some Guy Who Kills People," it is an honor and a privilege to be scathingly reviewed for bitchy people.

As for the budget of the film, we politely asked the director to sell his hippocampus to the National Institute of Mental Health. We then purchased four taco platters (with sodas) and a used '89 Celica, with the remainder of the money going directly into the movie.

This is my long-winded way of saying "thank you for the posting."

Barry Bostwick is fucking delightful.
