Silk Spectre II, Alice Cullen, and Professor Snape Walk Into A Bar...: CBGB Trailer

You guys. YOU GUYS. The trailer for CBGB is here and I can’t believe it’s being released into real theaters that show movies that don’t look like re-enactments on a budget. Do you know what that means? I am looking forward to this possible turd so much!

Alan Rickman plays Hilly Kristal, the owner of the iconic club that would become a breeding ground for 70s punk and rock music. Ashley Greene plays Lisa Kristal, Hilly’s daughter. We get to see the lip-synching abilities of Malin Akerman as Debbie Harry, Joel David Moore as Joey Ramone, Kyle Gallner as Lou Reed, and more people you don’t know playing well-known punk and rock royalty,

It’s so terribad, isn’t it? This will either be surprisingly good or, more likely, a masterpiece of epic proportions, joined only in infamy by Showgirls and Glitter.

What, Debbie Harry's too old to play Debbie Harry anymore?

Call me an old fart, but with all the wonders of CGI, what's the problem with having the people who ain't dead playing themselves? AUTHENTICITY, people.

(And yes, I know all about the oxymornic nature of that statement.)

  • stella

I dont understand how any of those words go together, but Im really excited!

  • misslucyjane

I'm acquainted with Hilly's granddaughter, and I just want to cover her eyes whenever this movie comes up anywhere. (I'm sure she's aware of it. That doesn't stop the protective feelings.)

  • CurlieQt

I'm also acquainted with Hilly's granddaughter, and if we are referring to the same one, I think she's pretty psyched about it.

  • misslucyjane

If we are, I'm relieved to hear she's psyched.

  • CurlieQt

She facebooked this trailer yesterday with lots of exclamation points in the post, and "liked" every comment, all of which seemed to be along the lines of "omg awesome Snape is your grandfather!"

I don't know how many granddaughters he has, so it may be the same one indeed

  • PDamian

I'll see it -- in a theatre, even. For some reason, I'm optimistic.

  • Yocean

Did they have Opie from Sons of Anarchy resurrected for this movie?

  • RSLRiot

I will be watching that for Ryan Hurst's beard-- to pretend like Opie still lives!

  • intheyear2000

I thought that was Opie, but I wasn't sure! OPIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cazadora

I could NOT get past the Rock of Ages vibe, only with twice the sweat.

  • $2786243

AWESOME. (I don't think this movie takes itself too seriously.)

  • I will watch this, because it will be a recreation of all the club experiences I can't remember from that era. Besides, the back and forth between Rickman and Logue will likely be worth the price of admission.

  • BWeaves

Hilly Kristal? Is that a real name? OMG, it's a real name.

  • mairimba

    Hilly Kristal Meth

  • emmalita

    DeBrie!

  • Tenacious_EJ

Alan Rickman could have himself filmed whilst walking his dog and it'd probably be worth watching. Looks pretty good to me! Of course, I'll have to close my eyes while Ackerman is failing at playing Deborah Harry...

  • John G.

Was Rickman going for an American accent there? Or is that just the wig?

  • Danar the Barbarian

The wig has dialogue? Must have a good agent!

  • WhoDeyKY

I will hate watch the shit out of this.

  • Jim

Stana Katic as Genya Raven. (Wonder if they can get Fillion as an uncredited, overzealous, overly-drunk fan.)

  • Jimi Smith

    You're an idiot.

  • Jim

    GOOD LORD are we related?

  • JenVegas

this is sooo totally going to be a giant dog turd but I wont care and will watch it on cable or netflix at some point. god i miss that freakshow palace.

  • mairimba

Looks like fun. Definitely watching when it hits Netflix Instant.

  • Modernlove

This is one of those movies I would probably pay extra to see at a fancy theater so I can drink while watching it.

  • Maguita NYC

Huh, Severus Snape goes Punk. Meh.

  • fluff_fluff

I'm so glad I've read "Please Kill Me" so as to be really properly horrified about this in great detail.

  • Berry

And Ron Weasley! Hopefully Snape gets to call him a dunderhead at some point.

  • stella

Omg a smack him on the back of the head?

  • TheOriginalMRod

and Donal Logue as Willie Nelson?
