Sherlock Holmes 2 Trailer: For Such a Pretty Man, Robert Downey, Jr. Does Not an Attractive Woman Make

Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law return for the sequel to Guy Ritchie’s successful 2009 Sherlock Holmes. A Game of Shadows pits Sherlock and Watson against Moriarity (“Mad Men’s” Jared Harris) and while Rachel McAdams returns, she’s MIA in the trailer, although there’s plenty of Noomi Rapace (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) to compensate.

It’s not a bad trailer; it’s similar in tone and sense of humor to the original Sherlock Holmes, which was a modest blast until Steven Moffat and Benedict Cumberbatch came along and demonstrated in their TV series how deftly a reboot could be done. All the Downey, Jr. in the world won’t compete with Moffat’s series, but the Game of Shadows looks as though it offers a crackling good time at the moviehouse over the holiday season. Popcorn, RDJ, and corsets. There are worse things. Although, I’d prefer if the corsets were not actually on RDJ.

You’ll have to watch it over on ITunes for now. As soon as a embed is available, we’ll add it here.

Not sure if I'm more excited for this, or that he's clearly sporting the Tony Stark goatee for The Avengers.

RDJ, you're a handsome man, but a fucking ugly broad. Couldn't even pay attention to the shirtless shots with him looking like an overly medicated Eddie Izzard.

I might catch this one in the theater. I thought the first one was a lot of fun, but it was definitely the chemistry between RDJ and Jude Law (who I find absolutely SMOKING hot in the role of Watson) that made it.

ugh, they recycled the soundtrack.

and i thought the Fight Club scenes were stretching the Sherlock Holmes definition before but he's doing neck chops now?

also, i cant look at noomi rapace the same way after the dragon tatoo. sori nooms.

i love RDJ to bits but yeah, even i can't defend the header pic.

Sherlock (sotto voce): I agree, this is not my best disguise, but... Watson, is that a gun in your pocket or...???

Fugly. Seriously fugly header pic.

Looks decent. I wasn't really into the first one to be honest. It was okay but I could have lived the rest of my life without a sequel. In short, yes I will see it.

Susan Sarandon.

The percentage of slo-mo worries me.

a) at least this ought to shut up the mouth breathers who want to say Rapace looks mannish.

b) Yes, after Moffat's series the preposterousness of a kicky punchy stabby shooty Holmes is unavoidable. Yes, my doves, I know the characters in the book was a pugilist, but RDJ's Holmes seems not even remotely cerebral. I do love Law's Watson, however,

Speaking of Sherlock, does anyone know if they are planning on making more of the Cumberbatch/Moffat series or was that it? I'd love to see more.

A second season is coming in autumn for the UK.

Of course RDJ isn't going to look good as a woman, because he isn't pretty. (I don't know about how it is where you're from, but pretty implies feminine good looks) He's certainly good looking, but it is definitely in a masculine way.

Holmes was supposed to be a master of disguise. RDJ in DRAG is not a believable disguise. Dustin Hoffman made me forget Tootsie wasn't really a woman. RDJ just looks like Milton Berle in DRAG.

RDJ is THE MAN and will continue to be THE MAN until further notice.

Thank you.

and the trailer looks like great fun.

@homeslice; They're already in production of the next round of three episodes of Sherlock. "A Scandal in Belgravia", "The Hounds of Baskerville", and "The Reichenbach Fall" are the episode titles, and give us a good sense where things are going.

To be fair, he's not bad for a 19th century english broad.

JaredHarrisJaredHarrisJaredHarrisJaredHarrisJaredHarris!

Everything he says makes me squirm in disgust. I love it.

yeah... but... nah....

I wanna like it... and I liked the first... mostly because of the RDJ/Law interplay.... but... why do I get the feeling that this trailer just showed me all the best bits and lines....

I hope they have kept some powder dry

Thanks, foolsage.

He looks like a live action Homer Simpson in drag.
