And We're Worried About Illegal Immigrants?

Grindhouse Releasing — who will be punishing your cerebral cortex with the awesometude of Gone With the Pope — has unearthed the trailer for 1974’s Scum of the Earth, also known as Poor White Trash 2. Though nobody knows what became of Poor White Trash the Original.

This is kind of like drinking one of those Slurpees where you’ve mixed several individual flavors and then trying to figure out what you put in. There’s a thick slurry of Deliverance, and a whole lot of the rapey-ness of I Spit On Your Grave, and perchance just a soupcon of The Hills Have Eyes / The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The overwhelming question when watching this trailer is WHY?

I’m just glad that if I’m not getting acting work, at least Tater Barley Banks is. You’ve got a lovely daughter, Chuck.

Here is my favorite line from the description on IMDb:

"When Paul goes back to the car for some cigarettes he's not given a chance to ponder the carcinogenic ramifications as an axe blade makes the point moot."

So this is not, then a sequel the the 1957 Peter Graves vehicle? And are either of those related to the one that came out in 2000?

I'll bet there's tits.

Jesus Cristo, I saw "Poor White Trash Part II" at the drive-in when I was in high school, with all my high school-level boy parts extremely ready to be titillated by just such the pleasures you're suggesting, and my memory is that this movie bored me nearly to tears. It was at a time in a guy's life when even hard nipple through cloth would be permanently engraved on the brain cells (think: Farrah poster), but ... I don't remember any in this mess at all. Or any that were worth looking at, for sure.

The only thing I remember is who I saw it with (my buddy Frank), and where, and that I'm pretty sure it was a double feature with one of the Billy Jack movies.

Holy day for night shooting, Batman! That trailer's awesome. I loves me a good hillbilly exploit picture and this one has all the calling cards. I ain't seen one with a hexing witch in it before. The only things missing from the trailer were the requisite bestiality implications and one of the womenfolk saying they were all proud Sons of the Soil. I'm assuming the witness to the depravity is a no good yankee woman separated from her carpetbagging boyfriend by the business end of an axe all because their car broke down on Tobacco Road and they dared to venture into Hatfield territory.

Ok, am I missing something? That looked dumb. There wasn't a "Ha!" moment to be found.

Clearly, my palette is not so refined as to enjoy the pleasantries of this site. Good day to you, sir.

I firmly believe that Gone With the Pope is the finest example of the art of the trailer in the history of trailers. Just knowing it's out there makes me happy I've never gotten around to killing myself. "Looks like Brillo!"

Oh, this trailer was good, too, though.

I really don't know what to make of that other than the stupid real white trash guy looks like Quintin Tarrantino.

The 70s sure was one rape happy decade. Seems every other movie was REQUIRED to have at least one rape scene.

We didn't just unearth the trailer. We have the movie and it is coming to theaters to kill you all, presented in SCUM-VISION. We warn you, you may not walk away from this one. Thanks for helping us spread the word.
