Scream 4 Teaser Reveals the Wrinkle in the New Series is ... YouTube?

So, after you’ve pretty much satirized all the horror movie conventions and cliches that you helped to develop, how do you re-satirize the satirized conventions and cliches that you re-developed?

From the looks of this teaser trailer for Scream 4, Wes Craven’s answer seems to be: Do the same thing, only film it. Yes. Film it within a film. Expect a lot of YouTube jokes. And apparently this is what older directors do to revive their franchises: Do the same thing, only film it within the film. See also: Romero’s Diary of the Dead, a creaky zombie feature that, as dated as it was, still beat Craven to the punch about three years before him.

At least Scream 4 boasts a killer cast, including some of the originals (Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell, plus what looks like small roles for the likes of Kristen Bell, Alison Brie, Anna Paquin, one of the Culkin kids, Hayden Panettiere, and a few other demo friendly victims.

Check out the trailer. Oh, I’m gonna see it. I’ll probably be massively disappointed. But, I’m excited about being disappointed. That’s the hold of Wes Craven.

In addition to Diary of the Dead, there was the Halloween movie made in the late 90's with Tyra Banks (can't remember the name) that involved a live webcasting of the people staying in Michael Myers house. Once again, Tyra is a true pioneer.

Hey Todd, they already filmed the movie. Wes Craven said that no one on the set had any idea that CC&DA were having problems and that he was very sad about the break up. He said that he almost cried when he heard about it.

I'm confused as to why this is called Scream 4, though, considering there was no second or third movie. Nope, just that first one.
