Sam Worthington Channels James Van Der Beek's Southern Accent in the Texas Killing Fields Trailer

Texas Killing Fields stars Sam Worthington and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as a couple of homicide detectives who team up to tackle a series of unsolved murders (I believe it’s loosely based on actual unsolved murders). Jessica Chastain (Tree of Life, The Help) and Chloe Moretz also star, the latter as what look like a potential victim.

The more interesting note about Texas Killing Fields is that it comes from Ami Canaan Mann, who is Michael Mann’s daughter. Mann himself is producing, and I’d be curious to see if directing talent is genetic. The problem, unfortunately, is that the bland Sam Worthington seems to be holding the film back with a Southern accent that can only be described as Van Der Beekian.

Check it out.

It kind of looks like "Criminal Minds the Motion Picture".

That being said, I will still be checking this out.

yawn

I've had bowels movements more exciting than this stinker. In fact, I think I'll go have a little excitement right now ....

Worthington's involvement guarantees this will be less than stellar.

Damn, that Southern accent had the subtlety of an axe murder.

My only real concern is that terrible, "You don't know how close to the edge you are," line. Ooh, cops who don't play by the rules. How original.

But I find Worthington attractive and Javier Bardem's American doppleganger is smoking hot, though apparently scruffy. Could make the Netflix Queue for that alone.

I have seen this Film, Sheryl Lee (aka Laura Palmer) is great in it, as is Stephen Graham (from "This Is England") and Jason Clarke. So if you can satisfy your hunger with some great character side dishes, it's worth checking out.

Worthington is less than talented, but it begs the question of "when did we decide on his stardom?" Can you think of the role that catapulted Sam Worthington into consideration of being talented? I always assumed that the star of Avatar was the CGI.

Speaking as a native Texan, there's difference between a Southern accent and a Texan one.

Sam Worthington's blows.
