Resident Evil or Underworld? Alice or Selene? Which Gun-Wielding Creature-Destroyer Do You Prefer?

Some of you have a sick fascination for the Resident Evil films. I get that. They’re not great films (or even decent), but Milla Jovovich, big guns, and zombie creatures? There’s something appealing about that. The Underworld movies have a similar appeal, only you can trade out Milla for Beckinsale and zombies for werewolves and vampires. They’re not good, but they are infinitely watchable. Part of that, at least in my experience, was the presence of Michael Sheen. Kate Beckinsale returns after taking off for the prequel, but here in Underworld: Awakening, Sheen does not , although I briefly wondered if, at the end of this trailer, when Beckinsale yells, “Where’s Michael!” if she meant Sheen?

Presumably, she means Michael Corvin, who was played by Scott Speedman. Scott Speedman is not in this movie, either, which suggests that Michael will not be found. Spoilers.

No thanks. I was done when she had a conversation with her reflection and then DROWNED. Cuz vampires breathe SO MUCH. I hate Len Wiseman.

I'm not wildly enthusiastic about either one, but with a gun to my head I'd pick Resident Evil. For the Milla.

Looks like a bit of fantastic. As you say, Dustin - they hit all the high points (including the blue filter, but minus Michael Sheen, who was incredible in the others), and Beckinsale is giving me some good Action Girl, which works very well for me.

Two Three things:

1) Always thought Selene's outfit was more latex than leather.

2) It's not at all too late for some kind of Beckinsale / Jovovich action team-up.

3) With Columbiana, this may well be the year Zoe Saldana becomes a professional Action Girl. Hurrah!

The Underworld movies are dumb, idiotic and asinine. But I will always give the time of day to Kate Beckinsale's backside in latex.

Underworld movies are standard date fodder for me and the mister, so I'll likely see this in theatres. Then we will go out to dinner and laugh at how absurd it was and admire how hot Kate was in her latex catsuit. Well worth the $8 entry fee.

i was going to scream meh until i caught a glimpse of Charles Dance. Dat guy made an ossom Game of Thrones ossomer so i'm watching this despite Sheen's absence.

Also, i hope this is the last Underworld because lets face it, the first one was a one hit wonder just like The Matrix. And at least they had the decency of closing out the series with the one disappointing sequel.

Kate shud dump the douche since he failed to make her the next Jolie and get back with Sheen.

Beckinsale > Jovovich EVERY DAY.

Maybe that's cause I've never found Jovovich particularly attractive but that's my feelings on the matter.

In Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Alice makes her entrance by crashing a motorcycle through a church's stained glass window, launching it into a "licker," and shooting the gas tank. Selene isn't even in the same gloriously ludicrous ballpark.

Underworld for the prosthetic-teeth scenery chewing by Michael Sheen & Bill Nighy.

Plus, Milla's model-pretty but Kate's rocks the pale brunette thing hard.
