Rampart Trailer: Bad Cop! No Doughnut!

There is an ugly parallel between the early seconds of the trailer for Rampart and the current plague of police misconduct and, yes, brutality that we’re seeing in footage from various Occupy protests nationwide. It’s timely, I suppose, but also a little distressing.

Nonetheless, I’m extremely excited about Rampart. It’s a starring turn by Woody Harrelson, and he looks like an absolute monster in it. The supporting cast — Sigourney Weaver, Ben Foster, Robin Wright, Ned Beatty, Anne Heche, and Steve Buscemi — is also excellent. It’s a screenplay written by one of my all-time favorite writers, James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential), directed by Oren Moverman (The Messenger).

Basically, it has all the ingredients to make it absolutely amazing, and from what I’ve heard, Harrelson is brutal and amazing in it. Watch the trailer:

I mean, even Ice Cube looks good in this.

So they made a movie based on the dirty Rampart detectives that inspired The Shield? Cool. Bring Vic back!

Is that Ice Cube in the background in the main pic?
This looks really good. I enjoyed The Messenger so I'm gladly awaiting this one. Early reviews indicate we will not be disappointed. And Woody Harrelson is fucking amazing in everything.

"Most corrupt cop" I've seen on film? That would be Harvey Keitel in "Bad Lieutenant," and I didn't see anything here that would dissuade me.

Nevertheless, there's some serious talent involved in this, and like severine, I liked "The Messenger" a lot and think Woody is fucking amazing in everything.

Bad. Ass.

I'm in.

That's a fabulous cast, and Woody Harrelson is awesome. I look forward to it!

Who wants to bet that Buscemi's character doesn't survive this one, too?

That little bit about Fox News ought to get liberals frothing to watch this movie if nothing else does.

it's so jarring to see Harrelson like this after watching his sports editor in Friends with Benefits. jarringly good that is.

Yo, Yo.

Save that simplistic-ass bullshit for some comment thread that might give a fuck. Since your reading and critical-thinking skills are lacking, let me point this out to you: anyone who froths at the mouth to go see this film will do so because of the talent involved (as witnessed by previous comments), not because of some Fox mention.

Persecution complexes are not the sexy. Grow up or leave.

Hmmm ... looks pretty derivative. Part Falling Down, part Training Day, part Barfly. All that plus Woody Harrelson, who was only well-cast in Zombieland.

Pass.

This looks outstanding. Woody Harrelson, Ben Foster, and Buscemi. I'm SOLD.

Heyyyyy any of you sexy bitches think that everyone's out to oppress y...? oh

Rest in Peace: "Persecution complexes are not the sexy. Grow up or leave."

I can see I'm not among like-minded folk here.
