A New Trailer for Michael Mann's Public Enemies

Depp vs. Bale Round II / Dustin Rowles

If the first Public Enemies trailer didn’t work you up into a big enough lather of wet lust or man-crush envy, perhaps this second trailer will do the trick. It’s similar to the first one, only a few things are mixed around, and there’s a little more Marion Cottilard, which is OK by me. She’s like rainbows and Rachel Weisz. The film still looks fantastic, though is it me, or is the look and feel of Public Enemies weirdly similar to a big-budget episode of “E! True Hollywood Story”?

Public Enemies is scheduled for release on July 1st. And man, I hope that Mann took some dramatic liberties with the story. I’d love nothing more than to see Dillinger take out Melvin Purvis and J. Edgar Hoover. Wishful revisionism, I suppose.

Take a gander:

I hear you on the "taking liberties" wish. I would love to see the Lady in Red torn a new one. You just don't grass on your loved ones like that(unless your loved one happens to be the Unabomber or Eric Rudolph or someone like that because I am completely inconsistent in my views of when it's okay to go running to teacher).

AHHH SO EXCITED!! I think this looks fantastic as well. I dreamt Christian Bale was my boyfriend the other night and it's still giving me a funny feeling. But Christian Bale and Johnny Depp at once? Mmmmmm

The story seems interesting too...

Looks like this will be a happier Canada Day than most!

michael mann? no way this is better than The Keep.

and that's not marion cottilard. i saw la vie en rose, and she looked terrifying.

That may very well be too much pretty in actor department. Do you think the theaters will be dispensing complimentary drool cups, or should I bring my own?

Oh yeah. Johnny looks so much better without the distracting facial hair.

Damn. This looks good.

And Bale in a Fedora? Yes, please. Yes, repeatedly. YES.

Oh my gosh. WANT.

That much hotness in movie that actually looks GOOD? With guns? Doesn't come along everyday...

Oh that J. Edgar Hoover. I wonder if they'll get into Melvin Pervis's firing since Hoover is an egomaniac. Would be awesome if they had some Hoover cross-dressing scene just to further spit on the rat bastard's grave.

Agreed. Sometimes the facial hair makes him look like a Hispanic pimp.

Bullets, blood, Bale, there's no way this will be anything less than great.

Johnny Depp is my kind of criminal.

The last great Mann movie was Collateral. Seeing early reviews this movie is not all that Im not surprise. Mann lost his touch ala Oliver Stone.
Depp bores me of late same with always intense Bale. Cotillard bores me to tears. Besides why will I spend my money on an actor that needs anger management, and Depp+Cotillard who despises America because of their love for France.

Im so banking the history will be butchered and you've seen the best of everything in the trailer.
Its just going to be the love story of Deppster and Cotillard:( I still havent forgiven Mann for the dud Miami Vice.

Bale should take a break and prep up for Hulk or American Psycho with his inner demons. My coworkers and many women I know want Henry Cavill to take his place as Batman. He is so one dimensional as Wayne and so Dirty Harry with his Batman voice unlike the commanding presence of RDJ in Iron Man. With RDJ the villains dont upstage him because he is a true talent.

Public Enemies wont hold a candle to American Gangsters and I shudder at the thought of Depp and Burton destroying another classic Alice in Wonderland. Watch Willy Wonka.

What is it with that "fast-tawking New Yawk" accent on Crudup? Did people talk like that way back in the... 30s?

MUNCIE!

What's up with the digital cinematography of Mann? Why is Depp wearing eyeliner? I cant help but get distracted watching a Bale movie recalling his foul-mouthed freakout.

I'm telling you people, you are working yourselves up to some mayjah disappoint. ment.

I'll admit there isn't much to go one, but Bale's accent sounded way overdone.

I agree that this movie probably won't be great, but its cast is good enough for it to be good, if flawed.

Well, I enjoy the twenty seconds of Calexico at the beginning. Awfully boring after that.

My boyfriend and another friend get into this schtick where they both talk like gangsters from the 30s. It's all "yeah see yeah."

Bale. Crudup. Depp.
That's all they need to print on the movie poster. That crap is going to kick ass.

I just cant stand Christian Bale. His acting doesn't do much for me. His acting is no different and always the psycho and jerk because he plays himself. He also got no class.
